Incendiary Festival is seeking actors for a new devised show entitled SPEAK EASY, directed by Rebecca Orion.
The show will be a semi-immersive experience set in an underground tea shop that reportedly holds the cure to burnout. We will be exploring themes of community, artist burnout, and supporting those who support us.
The story will pull from:
The story of Pasithea, the Greek Charity of Relaxation and Psychedelics
The real-life history of speakeasy bars
The music of Annabelle Dinda
The practice of tea leaf divination and herbal remedies
We want to cultivate an inclusive and diverse space to explore these topics, and encourage you to apply regardless of your personal views on the source material or subject matter.
The immersive nature of the show will require performers to interact with the audience fully in character. Because of this, experience with improv, immersive work, cafe work, and collective creation is an asset but not required.
Compensation for the show will be a profit share.

Saturday, October 3rd from 9:30 – 12:30 pm at the Central Library in Room 2-06B; Sunday, October 4th from 1:30 – 4:30 pm at the Central Library in Room 2-06B
Callbacks on Saturday, October 10 from 9:00 – 12:00 pm at the Central Library in room 3-20A

About the Audition:
Because this show will be devised, the audition will consist of a bit of creation from you. Please choose a song from Annabelle Dinda’s discography and create something around it to show off! Some jumping-off points include:
Using the lyrics as a monologue (or as a starting point to writing a monologue)
A movement piece to one of the songs
Singing one of the songs
A detailed itinerary of a date you would plan based on a song
Literally anything that the song inspires you to do!
If this feels too open or intimidating, please reach out, and I will help you choose something that makes you feel confident and excited.
Callbacks will include group creation, movement, and chemistry reads.
Available Roles:
Because of the devised nature of the show, specific roles will be created with the cast. We will, however, be looking specifically for a Pasithea. The race and gender of this character are extremely flexible; however, we strongly encourage performers aged 35-50 to audition. The remainder of the roles are open to all ages.
Notes on Compensation: Our shows are profit shares as we are not a full company, simply two people producing with our own savings. If there is no profit, unfortunately, we can not guarantee payment. If this is a deterrent to your participation, we understand.
Notes on Casting in General: We encourage you to submit for roles no matter what your gender, age, race, or body size. We strive to work with disabled actors whenever possible.
Creation Dates:
The rehearsal process will be split into three distinct sections: creation, rehearsal, and tech.
Creation will begin in November 2026 and take place on Fridays and Sundays. The times will be based on cast availability.
Rehearsal will add an additional day, for a total of three rehearsals a week, and likely begin in January 2027. The exact day and time will, again, be based on cast availability.
Tech will take place from March 1st to March 5th and will require rehearsal every evening.
Performance Dates:
Performances will take place at Bonny Boom from March 5th to 14th, with performances on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
