ACTOR 1: 20’s/30’s, adult, feminine presenting
JAININ
• A little girl, spanning the ages of 6 to 11.
ACTOR 2: 20’s/30’s, adult, masculine presenting
JACOB and Norm/Dave/Mr. Myers/Bruce/Billy /George/Mukey/Councilor Ross
· Jacob: Jainin’s older brother. A ham.
· Norm Hendry: Mechanic at the Sunoco Station
· Dave Henkel: Bartender
· Mr. Meyers: Owner of Meyers Pharmacy
· Bruce Bingham: Butcher, and neighbor to the General
· Billy Martin: Young man with a cool car
· George: A city worker from Kitchener
· Mukey: A cheerful mailman
· Councilor Ross: A member of Kitchener City Council.
ACTOR 3: 40 – 60, adult, male presenting
The General
· A volunteer crossing guard in Bridgeport Ontario. Old, smelly, rough character, possibly a veteran, a positive contributor to the community, but very rough around the edges. Based on Frank Groff’s true story.

The deadline for submissions is Friday June 19, 2026, at 5:00 pm.
Auditions will take place in-person on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
Candidates will be auditioning for Kathryn Smith. Candidates will be granted an audition based on their submission material and will be asked to prepare an audition from the play supplied by Quest Theatre when given an audition.
Submissions are open to Equity and Non-Equity artists. We are currently only considering submissions from Calgary based artists. As Quest Theatre is a professional touring company, artists must perform during the day and cannot be enrolled as full or part-time students as of September 2026.
Quest encourages all artists to explore theatre for young audiences as part of their ongoing practice. We are open to inspiration from any artist who is passionate about sharing their love of theatre with young people. We welcome artists of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religious affiliations, and abilities, as these represent the audience we serve.
