Chris Dahlan’s Mom Wins Over Fans on ‘Age of Attraction’: ‘The World Is Lucky to Have a Mom Like You’

27 March 20264 Mins Read

Chris Dahlan is drawing attention on Netflix’s new series, Age of Attraction, not just for his refreshingly calm presence, undeniably handsome appearance, or rare and vulnerable display of authentic emotion on the show, but also for the dynamic he shares with his mother—who has equally won hearts across the country.

Beyond his contagiously playful energy, Chris brings to the series sincerity and emotional openness that have resonated with viewers. In a genre often driven by drama, the 26-year-old Miami-based public speaker and business owner appears grounded and genuine. And much of that appeal seems rooted in his upbringing. Chris had an honest conversation with his 57-year-old mother, Nina, on Age of Attraction‘s Episode Six, “Family Matters,” when she gave him the kind of love, warmth, and fair advice that has fans feeling thankful that she exists in the world.

Rather than reacting to the age gap in her son’s then-relationship with 41-year-old Leah with unsolicited opinions, she gently asks how they feel about the gap, adding that the couple “looks happy together” and that she has been praying for Chris to find his person, whoever it may be.

“I know he is mature for his age, but I don’t know if, for a 41-year-old woman, you would see him [as] that mature,” she laughs. “I don’t know, that I don’t know. That is up to you.”

When Leah gives Chris and his mother alone time to chat in private, he asks his mother to tell him if what he has been through is “normal” and if it’s “how a relationship is supposed to go”—or if he is “just trying to find [the] positive in something that has really been a lot” on him. For example, Chris opens up about Leah’s love language being quality time, while he prefers more alone time.

“First, you need to communicate about every little thing that is bothering you,” Nina tells her son while still validating Leah’s love language. “You need to be yourself.”

Nina also acknowledges that moving in together must be difficult not only for her son, but also for Leah. She emphasizes the importance of compromise.

“You’ve been on your own for a while, and it’s going to be very difficult for you to have someone live with you,” she says. “[Leah] has been independent for so long… It’s hard for her, too, to have somebody in her home. Can you imagine? It’s not going to be easy for her either.”

Nina recognizes that the weight of the upcoming commitment ceremony is heavy on Chris and seemingly “killing him.”

“I know you want to be ready, but you really can’t force it,” she gently reminds him. “It’s not supposed to be that hard. It’s supposed to be easier, especially in a new relationship.”

By the end of the conversation, Nina doesn’t simply tell Chris what to do. Rather, she asks him the tough questions so he can ultimately ask and trust his own heart.

“Christopher, are you happy or not?” she asks. “Because if you’re not enjoying every moment with her, then you’re hurting her.”

It’s clear throughout the series that Chris struggles with wanting to be ready for the relationship but not being sure if it’s the right one for him. Nina seems to trust that, deep down, her son has the strength and empathy to know what’s good for him and to do what’s right for Leah. She allows him the space to share and be heard without clouding his judgment with outside opinions of the situation. That space to be emotionally raw, which men too often don’t get, empowers Chris to dig deeper and, ultimately, make a difficult but necessary decision.

In the end, it’s this balance—between vulnerability and self-awareness, guidance and independence—that makes Chris Dahlan such a compelling presence on Age of Attraction. Just as importantly, Nina isn’t only looking out for her son. She’s also mindful of Leah’s feelings, encouraging Chris to show up with honesty and respect, the kind of emotional accountability many people hope for in a future mother-in-law.

Nina hosted an Age of Attraction watch party at her Miami home with Chris and John Merrill. The impressively tri-lingual Lebanese-American successful realtor doubles as a typical proud mom and what her guests have called a “perfect hostess,” with tables full of food, friends, and family.

“You have an amazing heart and peaceful spirit, mom,” one fan wrote on Nina’s watch-party post, “Your advice to Chris was spot on! The world is lucky to have a mom like you!”

As fans continue to rally around both him and his mother, it’s clear their dynamic isn’t just memorable reality TV. It’s a rare and refreshing reminder of what thoughtful, supportive love can look like.
