There’s a new addition to the Blue Jays family! Jays designated hitter George Springer and his wife, Charlise, have welcomed their third child, quietly revealing the news on Instagram months after the baby appears to have arrived.
The couple were already parents to two boys, and the newest arrival makes baby No. 3 another son. Charlise surprised fans with the announcement in a post on Wednesday, sharing an adorable carousel of the couple’s boys. In the first pic, Springer’s older sons are dressed in Spider-Man costumes while holding their new baby brother (there’s even a shot of Springer carrying the baby stroller)!
“Canada Day looked a little different this year,” Charlise captioned the post, alongside a string of cute emojis.
This is a major off-field milestone during an important stretch for Springer and the Jays. The 36-year-old has a .251 batting average with 14 home runs, 46 RBIs and 11 stolen bases across 398 at-bats this season.
Toronto is also right in the middle of a late-season playoff battle. After taking two of three games from the Cleveland Guardians, the Jays improved to 70-71 and moved to just half a game behind Cleveland for the final American League wild-card spot. They’ve now won five of their last six games and head into a three-game series against the Kansas City Royals on Friday evening.
And apparently, it’s a big week for happy personal news in the Blue Jays clubhouse.
Beloved infielder Ernie Clement also recently got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Stefanie Brejcha! Brejcha revealed the news on Instagram earlier this week, sharing photos from the proposal and celebration at The Arcade in Cleveland, where Clement began his MLB career with the Guardians.
Toronto opens its series against Kansas City at 8:10 p.m. tonight, and a win would bring the Jays back to .500.
