The vault acts as your storage or stash in Marathon. As Marathon is all about looting, you’ll want to increase your vault capacity to horde as many items, guns, and equipment as possible.

In the early stages, managing all of your stuff is a serious pain in the butt, especially if you have a few consecutive successful exfils where you’re simply accumulating more things. It’ll take a little while to upgrade your stash space all the way, but it’ll make your life a bit easier.

Here’s how to increase vault capacity in Marathon.

To upgrade your vault capacity in Marathon, you must purchase the “Expansion” upgrades in the CyberAcme faction skill tree. Found in the top-left of the “Upgrades” menu, there are five upgrades in total, for an eventual extra 240 slots, but that comes at a serious cost. Here are all the requirements to increase your vault space, including the required rank you must have with CyberAcme:

  1. CyAc rank 3 — +8 rows (64 slots)
    1. 2,500 credits
    2. 12 Unstable Diodes
  2. CyAc rank 7 — +8 rows (64 slots)
    1. 4,000 credits
    2. 22 Unstable Diodes
    3. 12 Unstable Gunmetals
  3. CyAc rank 12 — +6 rows (48 slots)
    1. 5,000 credits
    2. 27 Unstable Diodes
    3. 15 Unstable Gunmetals
  4. CyAc rank 18 — +4 rows (32 slots)
    1. 7,000 credits
    2. 30 Unstable Diodes
    3. 18 Unstable Gunmetals
  5. CyAc rank 28 — +4 rows (32 slots)
    1. 10,000 credits
    2. 50 Unstable Diodes
    3. 30 Unstable Gunmetals

Make sure you track the required resources from this screen, so they’re highlighted whenever you find them in-game. So far, this is the only method to increase vault size that we’ve found, but if there are any more ways, we’ll update this guide.

Make sure you find out how to complete the “Introducing: Traxus” and “Survival Directive” contracts while you’re here, along with an explainer on how TADs and silk both work.
