Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed an agreement to open a Taj hotel in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, in partnership with Atman Resort & Cottages LLP. The project is a brownfield development with provisions for future expansion.
The 105-key Taj Dharamshala will include a heritage wing, historically known as White Haven Estate, which served as the Viceroy’s summer residence in the late 1800s. The heritage wing will be restored as part of the development.
Hotel amenities will include an all-day dining restaurant, two specialty restaurants, a bar, and a lobby lounge. Recreational facilities will feature an indoor temperature-controlled swimming pool, a gym, and the J Wellness Circle spa. Event spaces will comprise a banquet hall, terrace, pre-function areas, and meeting rooms.
Located in the foothills of the Dhauladhar mountain range, Dharamshala is known for its scenic beauty and landmarks such as the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Namgyal Monastery, Bhagsu Waterfall, Dal Lake, and Triund.
With this addition, IHCL’s portfolio in Himachal Pradesh will total 27 hotels, including 12 under development.
