The View was down two of its co-hosts during Thursday’s edition, with Sunny Hostin filling in for Joy Behar due to an injury.
Hostin explained the sudden absence of Behar on the talk show and said, “So Whoopi [Goldberg] is still out filming a movie, and unfortunately, our dear friend Joy dislocated her shoulder. Yeah, so she’s recovering and will be back soon.”
Details behind what caused the injury were not revealed, nor was the gravity of her dislocated shoulder. It was also not explained whether or not Behar would be able to co-host Friday’s segment and her possible return.
Hostin joked and added, “So the two OGs are out today. So apparently, the job went to the next oldest, or let’s say seasoned, cohost. I like seasoned better.”

It’s not the first time the 83-year-old has been absent from The View due to an injury. In 2025, Behard missed several segments of the show due to a foot injury. It was later revealed that the co-host had broken her toe by dropping an iPad on it. After returning, the co-hosts were already seated at the start of the segment in solidarity with Behar, as she had trouble walking.
Before the new injury, Behar was filling in as moderator for Goldberg. She had taken days off from The View to film Netflix’s upcoming dramedy film, Women Like Us. Goldberg stars alongside Vivica A. Fox, Vanessa Williams, and Jenifer Lewis, directed by Tasha Smith. The film follows a recently widowed character dragged to the Hamptons by her lifelong friends on what would have been her 30th wedding anniversary. The weekend becomes one full of laughs, grief, and sisterhood.
The actor returned for one segment of The View on September 28 and praised the new project. She called it a “wild” experience she’s having fun with, and the cast is a “version of the dream team of women.”
For now, it’s unclear when Behar will return to The View following her injury, as well as when Goldberg will be back as co-host amid her filming schedule.
