Mandarin Oriental, Macau has appointed Kai Jansen as its General Manager. Jansen will oversee operations at the property.
Jansen began his career with a restaurant apprenticeship in Rheine, Germany. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Stenden University in the Netherlands and Rangsit University in Thailand. His professional experience includes roles in luxury hotels in Shanghai, China, and Berlin, Germany.
In 2014, Jansen joined Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo, where he held positions in the dining and beverage services department and advanced to leadership roles. In 2018, he became Director of Food and Beverage at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, managing the department, culinary operations, and all restaurants and bars, and leading a team of 350 colleagues during the pandemic.
Jansen served as Hotel Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Munich from 2021 to 2023. He most recently led the pre-opening team at Mandarin Oriental, Savoy Zurich, where the hotel was named Gault&Millau’s Hotel of the Year 2025 and received the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Award in 2026.
Jansen holds a master’s degree in hospitality from Glion Institute of Higher Education and ESSEC Business School, France. He is fluent in German, English, and Dutch. Jansen will be relocating to Macau with his wife and three children.
