Kansas Entertainment Sets Groundbreaking for Kansas Speedway Hotel

Kansas Entertainment, LLC will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Sept. 25, 2026, for a Tribute Portfolio-affiliated hotel adjacent to Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway, with an expected opening in 2028.

Kansas Entertainment, LLC, a joint venture between PENN Entertainment Inc. and NASCAR, will host the ceremony at 10 a.m. CST on Sept. 25, 2026. Prime Group US will finance and develop the project, while Shaner Hotels will operate the hotel. Kansas Entertainment will contribute vacant land for the development.

The hotel is expected to include approximately 140 rooms and suites and will connect to the west entrance of Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway. It will be affiliated with the Tribute Portfolio, part of Marriott Bonvoy. Food and beverage offerings, meeting space options and other amenities have not been announced.

Hollywood Casino is in the Village West area of Kansas City in Wyandotte County, Kansas. The casino sits on turn two of Kansas Speedway, which hosts NASCAR races, including the Hollywood Casino 400, and dozens of major events annually.

Village West includes Children’s Mercy Park, home of Major League Soccer’s Sporting KC, as well as shopping outlets and attractions. Buc-ee’s is developing a property adjacent to Hollywood Casino. The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to open a new stadium in Village West in 2031.

Representatives from the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission, Kansas Lottery, and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, are expected to attend the ceremonial event, along with other area dignitaries and local stakeholders.

Prime Group US is based in South Florida and is privately held. Shaner Hotels, based in State College, Pennsylvania, owns and manages 75 hotel properties across the United States, Italy and the Bahamas, with more than $1 billion invested in those properties.
