Among the many projects in production to join the French line-up next year, a new romantic comedy with an emotional, dramatic hook: Promets-Moi. What is this project about? Here are a few tidbits.

In her extensive interview with newspaper Ouest-France, which we talked about this week, VP of French programming Pauline Dauvin quickly mentioned a movie currently shooting in the Lyon area, entitled Promets-Moi. No additional details have been officially unveiled, but as it turns out, producer Federation Studios (with Géraldine Gendre and Lionel Uzan producing) announced that principal photography officially kicked off in Lyon on March 3; it has also been reported in French trades Le Film Français and Satellifacts.

The logline is described as follows :

It tells the story of Nina, a young piano prodigy suffering from an autoimmune disease. She is about to give up on her dreams, until she meets Gabriel, a medical intern, who revives her hope and her will to live intensely.

On the creative side, the movie is directed by Nicolas Cuche, a French director who has a long experience in local TV and movies. But he is also the director of Honeymoon Crasher, a lighter comedy with elements of romance, which was released on Netflix globally last year. The film is written by Nicolas Cuche and Cécile Sellam. Fans of international Netflix films may recognize the plot: the movie is based on an original idea by Diego Freitas and serves as a French remake of his 2022 Brazilian hit Beyond the Universe (Depois do Universo), which followed the exact same premise and was a massive global success for the streamer.

Who is cast in Promets-Moi?

Newcomer Romane de Stabenrath is attached to play the lead; she was also seen in the Netflix original series Anthracite in 2024. Pablo Cobo is apparently playing the male lead; he has a little bit more credits, notably the YA show Stalk and the HBO France original show Malditos. Veteran comedian Pascal Elbé, alongside Frédéric Pierrot, Michael Zindel, Naidra Ayadi, and Guilaine Londez, round out the cast.

As we just covered, the French Netflix line-up remains in the rom-com business, with Omar Sy-led French Lover touted as a successful project in 2025; we can also point to the three seasons of the series The Hook-Up Plan. The pick of Nicolas Cuche after one Netflix original movie also shows the French team’s will to keep trusted collaborators in the fold; other examples include writers/directors François Uzan and Julien Leclercq, who will both have new projects released in 2026 (GIGN and Flunked). Though no release details have been confirmed by Netflix, the movie is expected to premiere next year.
