Two of Norwegian Cruise Line‘s beloved Jewel-class ships are getting a massive upgrade, giving adults a serious excuse to book a vacation.

The cruise line has officially unveiled major transformations for both the Norwegian Jadeand Norwegian Gem. The updates bring a pair of NCL’s most popular signature amenities to the mid-sized vessels, introducing the upscale, adults-only Vibe Beach Club alongside a total overhaul of the award-winning Mandara Spaand Salon.

According to Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, the transformations are a direct response to what travelers are looking for on board.

“Listening to our guests and delivering exceptional experiences across our fleet is at the heart of what we do,” said Kazlauskas. “These recent transformations bring some of our most beloved amenities to Norwegian Jade and Norwegian Gem, creating greater consistency across our fleet while giving guests more ways to personalize their vacation— from adults-only outdoor spaces to serene relaxation areas designed to help them unwind at sea.”

For adults looking to escape the high-energy atmosphere of the main pool decks, both ships have officially repurposed their Deck 14 sundecks into the signature Vibe Beach Club. This restricted-access, open-air retreat is designed as a premium oasis at sea, featuring expansive, uninterrupted ocean views and an additional private hot tub.

The lounge setup is a major step up from standard deck chairs, offering more than 50 premium loungers and a dedicated, full-service private bar. For those looking to elevate their sea day even further, the space also introduces seven private luxury cabanas available for rent.

Expanded Thermal Suites and New Wellness Tech

If your idea of a vacation involves heavy recovery and relaxation, the Mandara Spa upgrades are where you’ll want to spend your time. The ships have completely redesigned their Thermal Suites, shifting to a more centralized layout with an upgraded reception area and tripling the number of their highly coveted heated tile loungers.

The spa menus are also leaning heavily into modern wellness trends. The thermal areas now feature a specialized Charcoal Sauna that uses radiant heat to boost circulation and ease muscle stiffness, alongside a Salt Room for skin health, a traditional steam room, and an Ice Room to invigorate the respiratory tract. Guests can also book premium Four-Senses Loungers for deep tranquility or visit the brand-new on-board IV Lounge for quick nutrient hydration.

The two ships are also getting a few distinct, individual perks. The Norwegian Jade has introduced multi-jet Experiential Showers with custom lighting effects, a brand-new muscle-recovery Plunge Pool. Meanwhile, the Norwegian Gem has rolled out a completely refurbished hot tub and a specialized Thalassotherapy pool that utilizes bubble loungers and countercurrents to soothe joint pain.

Where to Sail

You can catch these upgraded amenities in action right now across a handful of bucket-list summer itineraries. The Norwegian Jade is currently sailing seven-day itineraries through Alaska from Vancouver and Whittier, stopping in Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway before heading down to Tampa for Western Caribbean sailings later this year.

Meanwhile, the Norwegian Gem is spending its summer cruising the Mediterranean and Greek Isles out of Venice and Rome, hitting beautiful ports like Dubrovnik, Split, and Cannes before transitioning to Florida-based Caribbean sailings this winter.
