Developers and publishers occasionally give away their games for free on Steam. Right now, for a limited time, Steam users can claim three highly rated PC games at no cost, and all of them have plenty of positive player reviews.
1
The Red Lantern
The Red Lantern is a narrative-driven survival game. You set off into the Alaskan wilderness with a team of sled dogs and a handful of supplies. Take care of yourself and, more importantly, your dogs, who each have different personalities and stories to discover. Once you find your cabin, you can still go out on runs to explore, or let the dogs run wild and free in Zen Mode. The Red Lantern has nearly 900 “very positive” player reviews. It’s free to claim until June 18 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
2
Happy’s Humble Burger Farm
Working at a fast-food chain is already tough, and Happy’s Humble Burger Farm gives it a horrifying twist. You’ll work the overnight shift alone (so, already scary), at Happy’s Humble Burger Farm. If course, there’s more to it than meets the eye. You’ll unravel a mystery surrounding this fog-covered burger joint at the edge of town and the monsters that keep popping up in it. About 1,650 players have given Happy’s Humble Burger Farm a “very positive” rating, and you can grab it for free until June 15 at 9 a.m. EDT.
3
Tell Me Why
Tell Me Why is a choice-based, narrative-driven game in the vein of the Life Is Strange series — which makes sense as developer Don’t Nod created the first two Life Is Strange games. You play as twins with a supernatural bond who are trying to figure out the truth behind their differing childhood memories. Your choices will influence how the story plays out and how characters bond. Tell Me Why has racked up nearly 8,000 “very positive” player reviews since its 2020 release. It’s free to claim throughout June for Pride Month, and the giveaway ends July 1 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
These games join the Mega Man-inspired Gravity Circuit, which we’ve previously spotlighted, as great free games on Steam. PC gamers who subscribe to Amazon Prime will also want to check out Amazon’s new free games for June, which include some classic Tomb Raider titles.
A chaotically great Warhammer 40K is free to keep for a limited time
