With the city in full sports hysteria mode, a familiar player is re-joining the bar scene. Maria’s Sports Bar is officially open again in Brockton Village, serving up good vibes and good brews from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.

New owner Adrian Montesdeoca is also the mastermind behind Bambu and Milou, and he envisioned Maria’s Sports Bar to offer the same hospitality as his other spots, but instead focus on the history of the space and the community that’s loved Maria’s for so long.

“This project is a little different from our others. With Milou, we tried to recreate a feeling and atmosphere we experienced in Paris. Bowie was a place we simply wanted to take our friends, and with Bambú, we wanted to build on the Bowie experience by offering the kind of food we love to eat while drinking cocktails,” he says.

And when it came to Maria’s, Montesdeoca says it was less about creating something brand new and more about preserving a local jewel.

“For us, it’s less of an ‘opening’ and more of a ‘keeping it going,’ so the name absolutely had to stay,” he says. Plus, we love Maria! She still comes around to check in on us, so we really wanted to keep her name on the building and her picture up on the wall.”

The vibe inside the space is casual, nostalgic and welcoming, and Montesdeoca says he hopes guests feel at home inside the space. And he brought out a classic food and drink menu to add to the vibe.

The pizzas are the go-to on the menu for sure, but the baked pastas are incredible, and you can never go wrong with the mozzarella sticks,” he says. “We kept the drink menu classic and fun, but done right. We’re also serving four of our cocktails in pitchers to be enjoyed with your friends.”

The best part? Happy hour is as extended as can be, running from Monday to Friday from 11am to 7pm and offering up two-for-one beers.

Maria’s Sports Bar is officially open at 1135 College Street.
