General-sale tickets for the Toronto Maple Leafs’ 2026-27 season only went on sale Monday, and with some upper-bowl seats reportedly running well into the hundreds, the backlash over the prices was immediate.
According to data compiled by Leafs Latest on X, the average cost just to get into a home game this season ranges from $150 to $270, depending on the matchup and type of ticket.
Standing-room tickets are reportedly hovering around $160 before tax, while upper-bowl seats are around $185 before tax. If you want to sit in the lower bowl, expect to shell out somewhere in the neighbourhood of $300 to $350 before tax.
And these are just averages. Looking at standard tickets, excluding standing-room spots and obstructed-view seats, the cheapest available seat works out to about $215 on average.
One of the priciest games this season is, no surprise, the home opener against the Montreal Canadiens on Sept. 29, with the cheapest standard seats reportedly reaching about $375 to $400. And it won’t get any cheaper when the Edmonton Oilers visit Scotiabank Arena on Nov. 14: the cheapest standard tickets have climbed above $375.
Of course, ticket prices and availability can change as seats sell, but prices are high enough that fans are absolutely roasting them (the costs and, well, the team), especially after the Leafs finished last season near the bottom of the NHL standings.
“Sports are no longer accessible to the general public,” one person wrote on Instagram. “You have to be affluent or financially irresponsible to attend games. The cost of today’s subscription prices would buy yesterday’s tickets.”
“It’s so gross gross and not fair to the real fans,” another user added.
Despite the costs, there’s still a major reason for renewed excitement surrounding the Leafs this year: Gavin McKenna. Toronto selected the highly touted winger first overall in the 2026 NHL Draft, and he could make his league debut against Montreal on opening night! That has at least some fans more optimistic about the price tag.
“Thats actually not terrible imo. For a top quality product thats probably going to win Lords Stanley Cup. This is our Year! Lets gooo Baby! Go Leafs Go!”
Now we’ll just have to wait and see if the Leafs charge kids $38 for a fist bump this year.
