President Donald Trump says the United States is “giving serious consideration” to changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America after trade talks devolved into social media insults Monday.

In a post on social media today, Trump says the U.S. does not expect to continue doing business with Ontario “much longer.”

The president followed it up with another post that he would never interfere with Canadians speaking French and never tried to weaken language protections as part of trade talks, calling Prime Minister Mark Carney weak and unpopular.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford said Monday that the U.S. needed to feel economic pain in response to Trump’s latest trade war escalation.

Ford said on Toronto radio that the president could “kiss my ass,” later doubling down at a news conference in Hamilton.

The president called the premier less charismatic, intelligent and impressive than his late brother, controversial former Toronto mayor Rob Ford who died in 2016.
