Jensen Ackles‘ formerSupernatural co-stars, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins, are joining him for the fifth and final season of The Boys.

In a March 2026 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ackles, who started playing Soldier Boy during the third season of The Boys, shared that he felt a bit anxious for Padalecki and Collins to film for the hit Prime Video series.

“I was nervous to have them on,” said Ackles during the Entertainment Tonight interview.

He then clarified that he just “wanted them to do good” on The Boys because he considers them a part of his family.

“We spent, you know, almost two decades together and we still see each other,” said Ackles in reference to Supernatural‘s 15-year run. “We still do, you know, conventions together, and we still talk, you know, quite often. And I mean, we’re kind of friends for life.”

He then compared watching Collins and Padalecki filming their Boys scenes to “watching your son go up to bat for the first time.” He clarified that Collins and Padalecki “did great” playing their unnamed Boys characters.

“I had no reason to do that but I think it’s just a testament to the bond that we share. We had a great time,” said Ackles, who played Dean Winchester on Supernatural, which ended in 2020.

Ackles also warned The Boys fans that the scenes he shot with Collins and Padalecki were “disgusting”and “outrageous.”

“I think there were multiple days where we looked at each other, we’re like, ‘What are we doing?'” recalled Ackles.

He then noted that The Boys is created by Eric Kripke, the creator of Supernatural.

“We’re all used to Kripke’s universes, so it wasn’t that shocking,” said Ackles to the publication.

Ackles also told Entertainment Tonight that it took some time for Ackles, Collins, and Padalecki to act as different characters than their Supernatural counterparts for The Boys. As Supernatural fans are aware, Padalecki played Dean’s brother Sam, and Collins played angel Castiel.

“But having us together, I would say it was weird working on camera with them, playing different characters than we’re used to playing with each other,” said Ackles during the Entertainment Tonight interview. “And that was that was a little tricky. It took us a few takes to kind of shake that out, but we got there.”

Jensen Ackles Shared How Jared Padalecki & Misha Collins Became Cast Members for ‘The Boys’ Season 5

In a June 2025 interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Ackles explained that Kripke, who left Supernatural following its fifth season, wanted to invite Collins and Padalecki for The Boys season 5, which premieres on April 8.

“Eric Kripke, who created Supernatural, he is also the writer-showrunner of The Boys. When he likes to work with somebody, he likes to continue working with them. And I was the benefactor of that, obviously. But then he thought, ‘Oh, what a great idea. Let’s just bring the cast back together. Splash the ratings a little bit,’ not that it needs it,” said Ackles during the June 2025 interview.

He also said he was looking forward to Collins and Padalecki’s scenes on The Boys to air.

“It was a really good time. I can’t wait,” said the Smallville actor in the June 2025 interview.
