Edmonton Mural Festival is back for another year of showcasing the art around the city. With murals painted on the sides of buildings from downtown to Old Strathcona, you won’t be short on art this year.

The Edmonton Mural Festival is a month-long celebration of the stunning murals across the city. It focuses on fostering inclusion, connecting artists, and highlighting their talent. Behind the festival, the team’s goals are to elevate local Alberta arts and continue to create opportunities for individuals to get represented in the arts and beautify Edmonton in the process.

The festival offers guided food and mural tours as well as a map of all the murals across Edmonton for individuals to explore themselves, kicking off the fall season with endless creativity. Through this, the festival aims to shed light on the murals that brighten up Edmonton streets, as well as the artists behind them.

Just recently, the Edmonton Arts Council partnered with the festival to help support the vibrancy of the city. With this help going towards programming and more, we can expect a whole lot of exciting things in the coming years.

What to expect at the Edmonton Mural Festival

For those who aren’t so interested in being guided and would rather embark on their own journey, there is a mural map to follow. If you’d rather get taken on your journey by someone who knows their way around, you’re in luck.

There are three tours coming up this season for the festival, with all of them exploring different parts of Edmonton.

You’ll be exploring Old Strathcona first on Aug. 19, hosted by the fabulous Linda Hoang. This two-and-a-half-hour tour will lead you through multiple mural stops, food stops, and live mural viewings. Your ticket includes an assortment of meals and snacks from over three local vendors, the tour itself, and an endless amount of knowledge for the future. You’ll be a mural expert in no time.

Following the Old Strathcona tour, 124th Street will be highlighted on their next tour on Aug. 30. Once again, you’ll get two-and-a-half hours of mural madness and food frenzies.

On Sept. 3, the final tour will take over the Downtown core. With all the same amenities, it’ll be just as fun, if not more, than the first two tours this year.

How much are tours with Edmonton Mural Festival?

If we’re being honest, the tour pricing is quite a steal.

A ticket to a tour is $49.26, no matter which one you decide to venture on. Once again, this includes the tour itself along with an assortment of dishes from over three awesome spots in Edmonton.

Even if that’s out of your price range, we’d like to remind you that the mural map is available online for free. Tour guides are optional, and you’re free to explore the murals at your own pace (and on your own dime).

Regardless of the option you choose, this festival is guaranteed to be a good time. With creativity, food, and good company in the mix, it’s ensured.
