Happy weekend! As we kick off a new month and prepare for the fall, streamers have packed slates when it comes to their TV programming. This week, some of the new releases include Guy Ritchie’s latest action series and an offbeat sports-comedy led by Glen Powell. There are also some newly available popular shows and long-running series on Netflix.
The Gentlemen is back for a second season, continuing the story of Eddie Horniman (Theo James) and his growing illegal cannabis empire. Chad Powers is also back for a second season, bringing more of Glen Powell’s shenanigans in disguise, a genre he’s made his own over the past couple of years. The second season finds him struggling to keep up his fake identity as a football talent with the use of prosthetics and a cheap wig.

Guy Ritchie is back with the second season of The Gentlemen, based on his 2019 movie of the same name. It continues the story of a British soldier who unexpectedly inherits his father’s massive estate, becoming the Duke of Halstead. He then learns that the estate houses a huge illegal cannabis operation.

The Gentlemen is visually stunning, filled with luxurious sets, gorgeous costumes, and the high-energy chase scenes and chaotic shootouts Ritchie does so well. But the director also has too many close-up shots of cast members speaking directly at the camera that fail to take advantage of all the sumptuous scenery.
