OPEN CALL: NUOVA YOUTH AUDITIONS
NUOVA Vocal Arts is seeking four young performers for our upcoming productions of Fun Home (Fall 2026) and Lionel Bart’s Oliver! (Winter 2027). See Form and details on ‘How to Submit’ below. Submission deadline is Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

FUN HOME
SEEKING CHRISTIAN BECHDEL AND JOHN BECHDEL
Westbury Theatre, Edmonton

REHEARSALS
September 7 – 30

PERFORMANCES
October 1 – 4, 2026

CHRISTIAN BECHDEL
STAGE AGE: Approximately 10-13 | VOCAL RANGE: C#4 – D5
Alison’s older brother and the eldest of the three Bechdel children. Christian is imaginative, confident, and eager to take the lead – although Alison’s strong personality sometimes overshadows him.
WE ARE SEEKING: A young performer with strong pitch and the ability to confidently sing harmony.

JOHN BECHDEL
STAGE AGE: Approximately 7-9 | VOCAL RANGE: C#4 – E5
Alison’s energetic and playful younger brother. John has a quirky imagination, looks up to his older siblings, and brings a joyful sense of spontaneity to the Bechdel family.
WE ARE SEEKING: A lively young performer with a natural singing voice, strong pitch, good harmony skills, and confident stage presence.

OLIVER!
SEEKING OLIVER TWIST
The Orange Hub Theatre, Edmonton

REHEARSALS
January 11 – February 17, 2027

PERFORMANCES
February 18 – 28, 2027

OLIVER TWIST
STAGE AGE: Approximately 9 – 13 | VOCAL RANGE: A3 – E5 | PREFERRED HEIGHT: 4’5″ / 135 cm or under
Oliver is a kind, intelligent, and resilient child searching for safety, family, and belonging. The role requires an expressive actor and a clear, confident singer who can carry some of the musical’s most memorable moments.

WE ARE SEEKING: Performers of all genders are encouraged to submit. We are especially interested in performers who appear young and small onstage; however, the listed height is a preference rather than a firm requirement.

HOW TO SUBMIT
A parent or guardian should fill out the Google Form by clicking on the link and submit it before Tuesday, August 11, 2026. Those selected for an audition will be contacted: Date, time and materials will be provided then. Selected applicants will receive an audition cut of “Where Is Love?” from Oliver!.
