As we look ahead to ABTA’s Travel Matters conference on 9 June, this year’s event comes at an especially important moment for the travel industry.
Businesses across our sector continue to operate against a backdrop of geopolitical uncertainty, economic pressure and rapidly evolving consumer expectations. In such a dynamic environment, opportunities to come together, share insight and discuss the issues shaping our industry have never been more valuable.
Travel Matters provides an important forum for those conversations. Alongside a strong line-up of industry leaders and expert speakers, including Shaun Morton, CEO of On the Beach, delegates will hear informed analysis on the economic outlook, changing traveller behaviour and developments such as the introduction of ETIAS. With contributions from organisations including Deloitte, Ipsos and Frontex, the conference will offer valuable insight into the trends and challenges shaping travel today.
A focus of the conference will be the relationship between government and industry. Travel plays a vital role in the UK economy – supporting jobs, driving growth and connecting people. It is essential that policymakers continue to recognise the value our sector delivers, not only economically but socially and culturally as well.
That is why we will follow the conference with a parliamentary drop-in session, providing MPs with the opportunity to engage directly with ABTA members and hear first-hand about the contribution travel businesses make to communities and the wider economy.
At a time of continued change and challenge, collaboration across our industry and with government is critical. I look forward to welcoming delegates for what promises to be an insightful and timely discussion.
