The Cat Walk Fundraiser is giving Calgary cats their chance to shine this August. This International Cat Day celebration invites attendees to bring their leash-trained cats for a walk through the city, dress up in cat-inspired outfits, or simply come out to celebrate all things feline.
The event supports ARTS Senior Animal Rescue and helps the organization continue its work caring for senior cats and giving them a second chance.
What’s in store at the Cat Walk Fundraiser?
Taking place at Pearce Estate Park, the Cat Walk Fundraiser is a chance for Calgary’s cat community to come together in support of ARTS Senior Animal Rescue. The organization works to provide senior cats with the care they need and helps them find loving homes.
During the event, attendees can enjoy a walk through the park with their furry friends and meet other cat lovers. Your cats are more than welcome to join the walk as long as they are leash-trained and comfortable being around people and other pets.
After the stroll, the celebration will continue at the Vegan Street CATIO, a pet-friendly space where guests can enjoy shared snacks, sip on non-alcoholic drinks, and relax in the sunshine.
And if your cat isn’t quite ready for a public outing, you can still join in on the fun by dressing up in your best cat-inspired look. Organizers are encouraging people to get creative, so expect plenty of cat ears, whiskers, and some over-the-top costumes. There may even be prizes given out for the best dressed!
Tickets, timing and details
The Cat Walk Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, Aug. 8, with the walk starting at Pearce Estate Park at 2 p.m. The route will wrap up at Vegan Street on its outdoor CATIO, so cats are welcome to join the post-walk festivities as well!
Tickets are $25 and include shared appetizers and snacks from Vegan Street, a non-alcoholic margarita, vegan ice cream from One of a Kind Ice Cream, and a $15 donation to ARTS Senior Animal Rescue.
While some cats are perfectly content ruling the couch, others are always curious about what’s happening outside the window. If your cat is the adventurous type, the Cat Walk Fundraiser could be the perfect excuse to get outside and experience something new together.
