As an Olympic gold medalist figure skater and beloved sports broadcaster, Tara Lipinski is more than a little familiar with competing under high-pressure circumstances and performing in winter-related activities. That’s why she’s surely the perfect person to host HGTV’s new Christmas competition series, Big Bargain Holiday Showdown.

“I’ve spent my whole life being judged on ice,” Lipinski said, according to HGTV. “Now I’m trading the ice for a whole new type of winter competition to prove you don’t need a Santa-sized budget to make some serious holiday magic.”

Although we don’t doubt that your interest is already piqued, you’ll likely also want to know that each episode of the show will feature “two teams of friends, family and neighbors” who “will battle to prove who has the most holiday spirit without blowing their shoestring budget,” HGTV explains. “With the help of DIY experts Ashley Dixon and Clinton Tharp, the teams will have just 48 hours and $500 each to transform one room in their home into a stunning winter-themed wonderland using ingenious design hacks, custom projects and smart spending.”

When the fabulously festive transformations are complete, holiday artist, designer and Glitterville Studios founder Stephen Brown and interior designer and 37th Burleigh founder Pelar Fullilove, will step in to judge what each team has put together. HGTV notes that the duo “will then crown a Christmas champ and award bragging rights, a cash prize and a surprise from Santa.”

HGTV also teases potential viewers with info about the first episode, mentioning that “Tara will challenge two friendly design business rivals to test their design prowess and dream up their own White Christmas.” That’s followed by episodes titled “12 Days of Christmas,” “Naughty and Nice,” “Santa’s Workshop,” “Retro Christmas,” and “Tartan Christmas.”

Bargain Holiday Showdown premieres on November 10 at 9|8c on HGTV, with following episodes continuing to air Tuesday nights. The new episodes will then be available to stream the next day on HBO Max, so be sure to pop what might be your favorite new show into your calendar now!
