Any fan of the classic rock of the ’80s can tell you that John Mellencamp puts on a great show. The iconic top-charting musician has put on great concerts over the years with his stage presence, conversational style, and audience prioritization.
This involvement in with the audience can be a really great thing a lot of the time, as the crowd gets to be involved and create the music along with the performer. However, sometimes this can create some mishaps, as almost one hundred percent of the time, the performer on stage is a bit more musically gifted than those in the crowd.
This fact led to a hilarious moment at one of Mellencamp’s recent shows where he called out the audience for messing up the song “Jack and Diane,” which remains Mellencamp’s biggest hit ever and a massive number one charting tune.

“Guys. There’s two verses…and THEN the chorus. You guys just said ‘f*** off’ to the second verse and just went straight to the chorus,” Mellencamp scolded the crowd. He went on to explain a bit about the making of the song, before going into the second verse himself.
Fans absolutely loved the moment, finding it hilarious. Taking to the comments they gave praise to the side-splitting moment.

It’s always great to get the audience involved, no matter how good they may be at actually following the song. It’s great to see the artist connecting with their fanbase in such a raw and earnest fashion.
