After years of being social media-less, Jennifer Lawrence has finally made her Instagram debut.

On September 10, 2026, the 36-year-old actress uploaded a video to the social media platform, and it was as chaotic and hilarious as fans expected.

“So, yeah, I am givin it a shot, and if anyone says anything negative, I will quit immediately, no questions asked,” Lawrence says in the IG reel. If anyone thinks something mean, I’ll know. And I’ll quit.”

Within two hours of joining Instagram, Lawrence hit the 1 million followers mark, and that count is expected to keep rising.

Her famous friends were also in the comment section, sharing their excitement about the newest addition to the IG family.

“Wow, finally some good news,” actress Zoey Deutch wrote. Comedian and podcast host Matt Rogers added, “Oh, you’ll love it.”

Previously, Lawrence shared that while she did not have a public profile, she was on social media secretly.

“I’m on it. But I’m a voyeur: I watch, I don’t speak,” she told InStyle. “There is always so much backlash. So many people are listening and paying attention, and they have so many opinions about absolutely everything. I really don’t want to welcome that unless it’s absolutely necessary. I don’t want to put myself out there for no reason. Unless I’m promoting something or something really burns my onions, you won’t hear from me.”

While Lawrence is finally on Instagram, fans should not expect to see her two children with husband Cooke Maroney on the social media platform. Previously, the Hunger Games star opened up about keeping her kids out of the public eye.

“I don’t want anyone to feel welcome into their existence,” she said in an interview with Motherly. “And I feel like that just starts with not including them in this part of my work.”

She continued, “I don’t want anyone to feel welcome into their existence,” she said. “And I feel like that just starts with not including them in this part of my work.”
