’90s and ’00s kids will need no reminder of all the incredible projects that Lindsay Lohan has been in, as she dominated teen movies during that era (and, of course, continues to star in a number of movies and shows today). However, perhaps one of Lohan’s most celebrated movies of all time is the 1998 remake The Parent Trap, in which Lohan convinced pretty much every child watching that she was actually a twin.

Rather, when she was still just a preteen herself, Lohan pulled off portraying both Hallie and Annie—complete with Annie’s posh London accent—and was a key factor in making this movie the fan-favorite cult classic that it is today. Somehow, it’s been nearly 30 years since that movie debuted, and Lohan recently sat down with Parade to share what it’s like looking back on that legacy now.

“It means so much. It was, you know, my first movie audition, my first film, and it holds such an important place in my heart,” Lohan said. “It’s just such a lovely family movie, and Nancy Meyers has such a beautiful way of doing that in her films. And people just really connect to it. It’s so funny; still today, young kids now notice me from that, which is just wild that people still love it so much. And to be a part of something like that is really special.”

About whether Lohan identified more with Hallie or Annie as a kid, Lohan shared, “I think always a bit of both, because I’m super feminine, but I’m also a little tomboy. So, I think I was both. Long hair, I like long hair better, but when I was young, I wanted the Jennifer Aniston haircut, so I was Hallie in that sense. But a little bit of both.”

Lohan also discussed how she prepped for Annie’s accent, saying, “I think as kids, when you’re acting…you just don’t think as much. You just go with the flow more.”

Lohan has just worked on a campaign featuring the Reese’s Oreo cup, which Parent Trap fans will also connect with, as a major factor in Hallie and Annie’s discovery that they were actually twins came about when they both revealed their love of Oreos with peanut butter.

The campaign saw Lohan partner with actress and comedian Amy Sedaris and actress and director Patricia Arquette on a new ad spot, directed by Arquette. A direct callback to The Parent Trap, the video sees Lohan helping twins—both played by Sedaris—come together.
