If you’ve ever watched someone get engaged to a stranger through a wall and thought “I could do that,” now’s your chance.
Netflix has confirmed Love Is Blind, the reality show that turned blind speed dating into a global phenomenon, is getting a Canadian edition, and single Canadians can already apply to be part of it.
For anyone who’s somehow missed the last decade of pods, dramatic reveals and last-minute altar decisions: contestants date each other without ever seeing one another, talking for hours through a wall in the show’s now-famous “pods.” If a real connection forms, they get engaged.
Then comes the actual test: moving in together, planning a wedding, and figuring out whether the emotional connection survives once physical attraction, and everyday life, enter the picture. It all builds to the altar, where each person has to decide, in front of family and friends, whether to actually go through with it.
Who’s making the Canadian version
The original show, hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey, premiered back in February 2020 and quickly spread well beyond the U.S., with local versions already made in Japan, Brazil, Sweden, the U.K., Mexico, Germany, Argentina, Italy and France. Canada is next in line, and more countries are reportedly still to come.
Insight Productions, a Blue Ant Studios company, is behind the Canadian edition, with Erin Brock (Canada’s Ultimate Challenge, Big Brother Canada), Jessica Brunton (Top Chef Canada, Extracted) and John Brunton (The Amazing Race Canada, the JUNO Awards) attached as executive producers.
“Love Is Blind has transformed how people fall in love around the world,” said Danielle Woodrow and Tara Woodbury, directors of Netflix’s Canada content in a joint statement. “Now it’s Canada’s turn to bring the romance, drama, and a whole new set of unforgettable love stories.”
How to apply
Applying requires filling out the registration form on the official casting site and submitting both a video and a recent photo. The deadline to apply is November 2, 2026, at 11:59 p.m., though that could shift without notice.
To be eligible, applicants need to be at least 19 years old, hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency as of Jan. 1, 2027, and be in good enough physical and mental health to pass the medical and psychological screenings the production requires.
Filming is set to take place in Toronto over roughly 14 days, alongside anywhere from a dozen to around 40 other people also looking for love, with essentially zero privacy given the round-the-clock cameras and microphones. Participants get a weekly stipend, though part of their payment may not actually land until after the finale airs.
