Megan Moroney wrapped the U.S. leg of her Cloud 9 Tour on Thursday (Aug. 27) and gave a tribute to Dolly Parton that some fans are calling “absolutely insane.”
The overall takeaway? Moroney’s cover of Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” — an early ’90s hit for Whitney Houston — is one of the most beautiful ever performed.

Moroney wasn’t supposed to have a show this week. The Denver, Colo. concert was a one-off; a makeup concert for the July performance she had to cancel abruptly due to illness. She more than made up for it, extending the show with 9 new songs on the setlist. That included the tribute to Parton, who died this week (Aug. 25) after a brief cancer battle.
Backed only by a keyboardist, the “No Caller ID” singer’s cover of “I Will Always Love You” showcased her moody vocals, which rang through Ball Arena as 18,000 fans sang along.
Parton was a country music legend, and just about every country artist who’s on tour this week has been honoring her in some way. Ella Langley sang “Jolene” in Alabama, Chris Stapleton powered through “I Will Always Love You,” and Brad Paisley teared up as he sang “When I Get Where I’m Going,” his 2005 No. 1 hit with the late icon.
Next up for Moroney is Cloud 9 shows overseas. She’ll perform in Oslo, Stockholm, Paris, London, and more in September, wrapping her tour in Belfast on Oct. 1.
