MEININGER Hotels will open its first Spanish property, the MEININGER Hotel Barcelona Fira Gran Via, on June 25, 2026. The hotel, converted from a former office building, spans more than 6,000 square meters and features 162 rooms with over 500 beds. The property also offers 30 parking spaces.
The Barcelona hotel marks the start of MEININGER Hotels’ operations in Spain, a priority market in the company’s Southern European expansion strategy. Located directly opposite the Fira Gran Via exhibition and congress center, the hotel provides direct access to international trade fairs and conferences. The area also hosts cultural and large-scale events, and Camp Nou stadium is accessible from the hotel. Barcelona city centre and El Prat Airport are both well connected, with the airport approximately 20 minutes away. The hotel is situated in one of Barcelona’s main economic and urban development hubs.
The property offers exclusively private rooms, ranging from doubles to four-bed options, designed for business travelers, families, groups, and individual travelers. Shared spaces include a lounge area, three terraces, a bar, and a “heat & eat” zone for preparing or storing food.
The hotel is BREEAM certified for sustainability and energy efficiency, and operates entirely on renewable electricity from a local provider. Additional energy-efficiency measures include modern insulation, solar panels, and water-saving features such as flow restrictors on taps and showers.
MEININGER Hotels plans further expansion in the Iberian Peninsula, with a Madrid hotel scheduled for 2027. Internationally, openings are planned in Edinburgh and Tel Aviv in 2026, Strasbourg in 2027, and Porto and Dublin in 2028.
