MN weather: Muggy with rain showers Tuesday
Tuesday turns gray and muggy as rain showers move from west to east across the state. Around a quarter inch of rain is possible in many areas before showers taper Tuesday night. FOX 9 meteorologist Cody Matz has the forecast.
MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) – Parts of the Twin Cities metro area picked up more than an inch of rain as showers swept across the state on Tuesday.

The backstory:
Showers rolled into parts of western and central Minnesota through the afternoon and reached the metro around the lunch hour. The rain cleared heading into Tuesday night, though some showers lingered near the Iowa border.
Cities within the metro area saw half an inch to more than an inch of rain. Some of the highest totals were reported in the eastern metro, including 1.07 inches in St. Paul, 1.02 inches in Stillwater and 1.01 inches in Woodbury.

What’s next:
Fog and low clouds will gradually clear, allowing for some filtered afternoon sunshine in the Twin Cities metro on Wednesday. Southern Minnesota could hold onto more clouds, while areas farther north see more sunshine.
Warm and humid conditions continue Wednesday, with dew points in the 60s and widespread highs in the 70s. The Twin Cities metro daytime high is around 75 degrees, above the average high of 67 degrees.
Clouds increase Wednesday night as temperatures cool into the 40s and 50s. Southern Minnesota could see some overnight rain showers.
