Leopard print has a funny way of making itself at home. Whether it shows up on a handbag, a pair of shoes or tucked into a kitchen accessory, those spots instantly add personality to an otherwise ordinary space. I especially love using unexpected home pieces to make a wild statement, because you don’t need an entirely leopard-themed room to have fun with the trend.
That’s exactly why I have my eye on these wild plates from T.J. Maxx. The Leopard Border Salad Plates from Coastlines cost just $19.99, and each 8.25-inch plate features an animal print border that gives the classic white plate a much more playful personality. Made from fine porcelain, the set of four is microwave- and dishwasher-safe, so they’re not just pretty—they’re practical, too.

I think the leopard border is what really makes these work for me. Instead of covering the entire plate in an animal print, the design frames the food while leaving plenty of clean white space in the center. That makes them feel fun without being overwhelming, which is exactly what I’d want if I were adding a trendier piece to my kitchen.

Personally, I’d use these as a way to spice up a neutral tablescape. Think white or cream dinner plates underneath, natural wood serving boards, woven placemats and a few simple black accents. For fall, I could also see them looking fantastic with amber glassware, warm-toned napkins and a centerpiece of autumnal greenery. If you love mixing patterns, pair these with stripes, gingham or even a subtle floral print for a more collected, maximalist look.
I’d happily pull this set of china out for a casual dinner party. Salad, appetizers, dessert or even a slice of birthday cake suddenly feels a little more special when it’s served on something with this much charm.
At under $20 for four, I think they’re an easy way to experiment with the leopard print trend without going overboard. If you want your table to have a wild side, these plates seem like a fun place to start.
