It’s the start of another beautiful week in Vancouver, and the city is teeming with possibilities. An international children’s festival will transform Granville Island into an immersive playground, the Vancouver Canadians are up against the Eugene Emeralds, and there’s so much more to uncover around the city. Here are 10 of the best things to do in and around Vancouver this week (May 25-29).

This year’s Vancouver International Children’s Fest is bringing all kinds of immersive events and variety shows to Granville Island this week. There are pyjama parties, baby space opera, and so much more to discover for all ages, and shows are $15 per person, per show.

When: Wednesday, May 25 to 31, 2026
Time: Varies per show
Where: Granville Island
Cost: $15 per person, per show, or $66 for a four-show pack

This week, the Vancouver Canadians are up against the Eugene Emeralds at the Nat, so get ready to root for the home team and consume undgodly amounts of stadium snacks.

When: Games from Tuesday, May 26 to Friday, May 29, 2026
Time: 1:05 and 7:05 p.m.
Where: 4601 Ontario St. 
Cost: $24+

Established as a platform for artistic exchange, this annual event brings artists, galleries, collectors, curators, and art appreciators together for the ultimate showcase experience. Starting this Thursday, you can check out a range of paintings, sculptures, murals, and interdisciplinary work at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

When: Thursday, May 28 to Sunday, May 31, 2026

American post-hardcore band DAYSEEKER is bringing The Pale Moonlight Tour to the Commodore this week.

Roman Polanski’s 1974 neo-noir masterpiece Chinatown is considered one of the defining films of the 1970s, and it’s screening at The Hollywood this week. Seating is first-come, first-served!

Speaking of iconic cinema, 1999’s Fight Club is screening for its 25th anniversary at the Rio, and it’s been remastered by the director specifically for this anniversary.

From video assistant referee systems to high-speed cameras and drones to football friction tests, the exhibition dives deep into the tech and innovation that make the World Cup possible. Presented in partnership with the Province of British Columbia, the touring exhibition Soccer & Technology from the FIFA Museum is a huge deal for fans of the game, and it has now arrived at Science World.

When: Friday, May 15, 2026, to Sept. 7, 2026
Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Vancouver’s free-to-enter container market is back on April 30 with over 30 new food and artisan vendors to check out. The lively, open-air marketplace is now in its third year, bringing visitors together for live screenings of World Cup matches, live music, sips from a waterfront bar, and rotating pop-ups.

When: Open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
Time: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays, and until 9 p.m. on weekends

The Improv Centre is introducing a hilarious new show based on a rotating crew of space explorers, who must rely on audience suggestions to explore a different “galaxy” every show.

The zipline is back, the less-than-$10 happy hour items are back, and tons of exciting new attractions await at this year’s Richmond Night Market, which kicks off at the end of the week. Soon, millions of visitors from across the globe will gather to share in the city’s excitement for the FIFA season and beyond.
