1990s Pop-Rock Band Drops Summer Tour News and Fans Say 'Something's Missing'

Barenaked Ladies, the darlings of the late 1990smusic scene known for their catchy melodies and humor-filled onstage presence, just made a major announcement, and fans are quick to notice “something’s missing” from the band’s lineup.

The Canadian rock/pop band, famous for hits like “One Week” and “Pinch Me,” announced their summer 2026 tour. The Barenaked Ladies summer 2026 tour will kick off on June 20, 2026, in Calgary, Canada, before coming to the U.S. for dates across the country, including Florida, Oregon, and California, and finishing at the Harvest Music Festival on September 26, 2026, in Fredericton, Canada.

Barenaked Ladies was formed in 1988 in Scarborough, Canada, by lead singer Steven Page and singer and guitarist Ed Robertson. Page left the band in 2009 and currently tours with the Steven Page Trio, occasionally making appearances with the band. Without Page’s iconic onstage persona and infectious voice, some fans claim something’s missing from the Barenaked Ladies summer 2026 tour—and that thing is Steven Page.

“Someone’s missing,” commented one fan.

“Still missing a Paige,” added another.

“Good but not as good as before with Steve Paige,” confessed another.

For the record, Steven Page is spelled “Page,” but surely the singer appreciates all spellings of his name from fans lamenting his absence from the Barenaked Ladies lineup.

Why Steven Page Left the Band

So why is Page not on the band’s summer tour? Page, now 55, faced substance-related issues, including a 2008 arrest that brought public scrutiny and unwanted negative attention to the band. Personal struggles, coupled with him and co-frontman Ed Robertson moving in different artistic directions, led Page to choose a solo career and separate from the band’s dynamic. At the time of Page’s split from the band, it was described as mutual, with Page stating he wanted a fresh start.

Life After Barenaked Ladies

Despite fans’ continued desire for Steven Page to return to Barenaked Ladies, the mutual split seems to have worked out for both sides. Page has released multiple solo albums, including Page One (2010) and Heal Thyself Pt. 1: Instinct (2016), allowing him to create more introspective and orchestral work than in his Barenaked Ladies material.

In addition, Steven Page performs with symphony orchestras across North America, writes for musical theatre and television, and continues touring as a solo artist and with the Steven Page Trio.

The Band Today and Reunion Hopes

Barenaked Ladies continue to release albums, leaning more into pop-rock and polished production on recent releases while maintaining a deeply loyal and dedicated fan base.

A testament to Page’s signature songwriting and voice, coupled with his vocal contrast to Ed Robertson that defined the early Barenaked Ladies sound, fans are still longing for a reunion. Who knows—maybe fans’ wishes will come true this summer.
