’80s Rock Band Announces Special Guest for 40th Anniversary Tour

31 May 20263 Mins Read

Big Country, a prominent Scottish rock band, is ramping up the excitement after announcing a special surprise for fans.

The five-piece band, composed of founding member and lead guitarist Bruce Watson and his son Jamie Watson on rhythm guitar, together with Tommie Paxton as frontman and rhythm guitarist, Chris Stones on bass and Reece Dobbin on drums, is adding more activities to its schedule this year.

Amid their back-to-back shows lined up for 2026, the “In a Big Country” hitmaker is closing the year with a must-see tour.

In an Instagram post, Evan Peters Presents The Alarm announced the schedule for The Seer 40th Anniversary Tour.

With Big Country, performing under the modified moniker Big Country Redux, serving as the headliner, the band has teamed up with the Welsh new wave and alternative rock band as a special guest for a nostalgia-filled tour.

It has been 40 years since the band released their third studio album, The Seer in 1986.

The upcoming event, scheduled for a two-month run, also celebrates the enduring legacies of Bruce Watson and the late frontman Mike Peters, whose influence continues to resonate with fans following his death in 2025 due to a long battle with cancer and Richter’s Syndrome.

“It is with great happiness that we announce the Big Country Seer 40th Anniversary Tour with Evan Peters presenting The Alarm on Nov/Dec UK 2026. This tour honours the meetings between Bruce Watson and Mike Peters a few months after Mike’s tragic diagnosis with Richter’s Syndrome in April 2024. Mike and Bruce met at The Red in Wales and made a pact together that once Mike was ‘cured’ of cancer and ‘Totally Free.’ Big Country and The Alarm would head out on tour together in 2026, upon Mike’s recovery, celebrating the greatest hits of both bands,” the caption reads.

Despite the passing of the former lead vocalist, The Seer 40th Anniversary Tour will fulfill a vision he shared with Bruce Watson while celebrating his lasting musical legacy and contributions to rock music.

“Mike will be forever by our sides at every concert on this Tour. We look forward to seeing you down the road, honouring and celebrating the spirit of Mike Peters,” he added in the post’s caption.

The 16-date tour will kick off on Nov. 19 in Middlesbrough, United Kingdom, covering major cities such as York, Oxford, Manchester, London and Birmingham before concluding on Dec. 10 in Bristol for the finale.
