A Hogwarts Express Train Experience Is Coming for Harry Potter Fans

16 January 20263 Mins Read

If you’ve ever watched the Harry Pottermovies and thought, wait—why can’t I do that?, you’re not alone. There are theme parks, studio tours, stage shows, pop-up shops, and more wands than anyone could reasonably own. And yet, somehow, one major fantasy has remained just out of reach: actually riding the Hogwarts Express.

That’s about to change.

This week, Warner Bros. Discovery announced a new immersive attraction created in partnership with Rail Events Inc called Harry Potter: A Hogwarts Express Adventure. It’s exactly what it sounds like—a themed train journey designed to make fans feel like they’ve stepped straight into the wizarding world.

“We’ve been hard at work developing an incredible train-based experience,” shared Jamie Ryan, director of marketing for Rail Events Inc., creators of themed rail-based events, including Polar Express and Peanuts, in a short promotional video on its website. “And the highlight is that most of the experience takes place on a real moving train.”

Details are still being kept under wraps, but here’s what we know so far: the experience will include a pre-boarding moment inspired by Platform Nine and Three-Quarters (yes, really), in-character interactions onboard, and themed dining during the journey. According to a short teaser shared online, there will also be hosted competitions led by Hogwarts “staff,” plus a chance at the end to enjoy a butterbeer and browse exclusive merchandise made just for the experience.

In other words, this isn’t just a scenic train ride with some branding slapped on. The goal is full immersion—the kind where you suspend disbelief just long enough to forget you’re an adult holding a phone and remember what it felt like to be 11 years old, waiting for your school letter.

There’s no confirmed launch date, no announced route, and no word on where exactly the train will run. (U.S. fans, you’re probably wondering if this could eventually cross the Atlantic—same.) For now, interested Potterheads can sign up for updates and hope to snag tickets when sales open later this year.

Until then, the closest real-world comparison remains Scotland’s famous rail routes—especially the Glenfinnan Viaduct, which appeared in the films—but this new experience promises something more theatrical and interactive.

It’s one more reminder that, decades later, the Harry Potter universe isn’t just surviving—it’s still finding new ways to feel magical. And this time, the magic comes with a conductor’s whistle.
