Green Lodging News Publishes E-Newsletter No. 1,000

28 January 20263 Mins Read

  • Green Lodging News Publishes E-Newsletter No. 1,000 – By Glenn Hasek

Green Lodging News, lodging’s leading environmental news source, has published its 1,000th weekly e-newsletter. Glenn Hasek, Publisher and Editor of the Monday e-newsletter, website, Wednesday Green Supplier Spotlight e-blast, and Thursday Green Suppliers Spotlight e-blast launched the publication almost 20 years ago in July 2006. The e-newsletter and Spotlights currently reach 17,600 subscribers.

Hasek, who first entered the lodging industry as an assistant editor with Hotel & Motel Management magazine in 1989, first wrote about environmental issues on a consistent basis in a column called Eco Views in 1991.

“I remember some of the pioneers of the green movement back then: Valley Forge Fabrics, Interface, the Saunders Hotel Group, and Dan Ruben, founder of Boston Green Tourism, as well as guys like Ray Burger and Dan Bornholdt who went on to launch Pineapple Hospitality and Green Suites Hotel Solutions,” Hasek says. “They, along with family and many professional and personal friends, inspired me to focus on sustainability and wellness at a time when it was just emerging as a priority for most hotel and management companies.”

Feature Categories

Green Lodging News, with 20,000+ articles on its website, covers advances in wellness, indoor air quality, green cleaning, energy management, green design, heating & cooling, kitchen & laundry, lighting, sales & marketing, waste management and water conservation—always with an eye toward the profitability upside to environmental preservation.

Green Lodging News welcomes guest columns, press releases from industry suppliers, vendor case studies, vendor and other videos, and includes gateways to information on green certification programs, green industry organizations, properties implementing renewable energy technologies, and the green initiatives of hotel companies from all over the world.

“I would like to thank the hundreds of suppliers that have supported Green Lodging News over the years,” Hasek says. “Especially those companies that chose to become Founding Sponsors. “Without them, Green Lodging News would not have been possible.”

Green Lodging News has also been fortunate to have the support of the supplier community in its Green Product & Service Directory, the green “go to” place for hoteliers in search of everything from amenities to wallcoverings. The Directory currently has 34 categories and more than 50 companies participating.

Advertising/Editorial Opportunities

Those companies interested in learning about advertising/sponsorship opportunities with Green Lodging News can access the 2026 media kit by clicking here, or contact Glenn Hasek, Publisher & Editor, at (216) 702-0334 or greenlodgingnews@gmail.com. Hasek should also be contacted with any editorial-related questions.

“Moving forward toward Green Lodging News’ 20th anniversary in July, I am looking forward to welcoming more companies into the Green Lodging News family, and to continuing to grow the readership of Green Lodging News,” Hasek says.

“The lodging industry’s direct and ripple effect on the environment is huge—in areas such as air quality, energy consumption and water consumption,” Hasek adds. “The industry is also a very large producer of waste—notably food and plastic waste. I like to think that in some way I have at least helped point our industry in the right direction over the years—for the good of us all.”
