U.S. Travel and Tourism Exports Fall 4% in November 2025

U.S. Posts $1.8 Billion Travel and Tourism Trade Deficit in November 2025, according to data released by the National Travel and Tourism Office.

International visitors spent nearly $20.7 billion on travel to and tourism-related activities in the United States in November 2025, a 4 percent decrease from November 2024. Americans spent more than $22.5 billion traveling abroad during the same month, resulting in a $1.8 billion trade deficit for travel and tourism-related goods and services.

Year to date, international visitors have spent nearly $228.9 billion on U.S. travel and tourism-related goods and services, down 0.4 percent from the same period last year. On average, international visitors contributed $685 million per day to the U.S. economy during this period.

Purchases of travel and tourism-related goods and services by international visitors in the United States totaled $11.6 billion in November 2025, down 4 percent from $12.1 billion in November 2024. These purchases include food, lodging, recreation, gifts, entertainment, local transportation, and other items incidental to foreign travel. Travel receipts accounted for 56 percent of total U.S. travel and tourism exports in November 2025.

Fares received by U.S. carriers from international visitors totaled nearly $3.1 billion in November 2025, compared to more than $3.1 billion in the previous year, a decrease of nearly 2 percent. Passenger fare receipts accounted for 15 percent of total U.S. travel and tourism exports during the month.

Expenditures for educational and health-related tourism, along with all expenditures by border, seasonal, and other short-term workers in the United States, totaled $6.0 billion in November 2025, compared to $6.3 billion in November 2024, a decrease of 4 percent. These categories accounted for 29 percent of total U.S. travel and tourism exports in November 2025.
