I keep telling myself I don’t need another bag. Truly, I’m in my “paring down” era. But different bags really do have different jobs. A little clutch is basically jewelry. It’s there to look cute and hold exactly three things, like your ID, a credit card and lip gloss. Meanwhile an everyday handbag is there for function but it’s also very much part of the outfit. They have to pull their weight style-wise.
And then there’s the weekender. That one isn’t pretending to be decorative. It has a purpose. It’s the bag you grab for a quick overnight, a spontaneous road trip, or when you’re trying to avoid checking luggage for a two-day getaway. It needs to fit the extra shoes, the backup sweater, and the toiletries you swore you’d pack lighter this time.

There are a few bag details you really need to know, like the fact that it’s fully lined on the inside, so it doesn’t have that flimsy, unstructured vibe. The outside has a couple of super practical details, too. There’s a zip pocket that actually converts into a trolley sleeve, so you can slide it right over your suitcase handle at the airport (a feature you never knew you needed until you use it).
You’ve also got two side slip pockets on the outside, which is perfect for a water bottle or stashing your phone when you’re juggling coffee. Plus, there’s another exterior zip pocket for anything you want to keep secure but easy to grab.
It has two sturdy top handles if you want to carry it by hand, but also comes with a detachable, adjustable shoulder strap for when your hands are full. And the very idea that it’s soft-sided gives you a little wiggle room when you’re trying to squish it into overhead bins or car trunks easily.
Marshalls has so many great finds right now that it’s almost hard to visit the store in fear of wrecking my budget (again, “paring down era”). But its printed nightstands are total Anthropologie dupes and so hard to pass up. And then the coastal-style lamps make me want to add a set to every room. So shop with caution, because it’s cuteness overload in Marshalls right now.
