Resident Evil Requiem walkthrough part 6: The Basement

27 February 202610 Mins Read

The sixth part of our Resident Evil Requiem walkthrough follows Grace as she tries to rescue Emily from The Girl. Of all places, the monster just had to take refuge in the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center’s Basement, which is not at all a lovely site. You must find the three joint plugs and restore power if you wish to survive.

However, before you start, it’s important to note that this walkthrough will tell you how to complete Resident Evil Requiem on casual and standard (modern and classic) difficulties.

Here’s how to complete the sixth part of Resident Evil Requiem: The Basement.

[Ed. note: This guide contains spoilers for Resident Evil Requiem, so continue at your own risk! Feel free to follow along or bookmark this page and come back if you get stuck.]

How to get the square socket wrench

After entering Resident Evil Requiem‘s Basement for the first time, while walking through the tunnel, pick up the staff member’s last words (file) from the body on your right. Further down the tunnel, you’ll find a green herb to your left and a room full of monitors to your right. This is the Security Room.

Inside, you’ll find a typewriter to save your game, a storage box for items, and the operation to eliminate The Girl file. You must make your way west, through the Furnace, then north, and then east through the Holding Cells.

Something to keep in mind while exploring the Basement: There are many intact zombie bodies here. If you approach them, you’ll see a hemolytic injector sign. Try to inject as many as you can, as they will respawn as mutated zombies if you don’t. At this point, you can already pick up the following loot to craft some injectors:

  • Scrap and blood (30) at the Collection Pool.
  • Blood (40): On the floor, west of the Holding Cells.
  • Scrap and blood (50): In the northeast cell.

When you’re ready, look at the unlocking the cells file above the power distributor. To enable the power, you must insert three joint plugs and pull the lever. Since there’s only one, which you’ll need to open certain doors, remove it and slowly walk down the hallway to find that The Girl is lurking about. Hide in the nook next to the power distributor and patiently wait for The Girl to walk away.

Put the joint plug in the southern power distributor and enter the Bunkroom (you can also do this later, but you’d have to deal with more zombies). There should only be one awakened zombie here; sneak up on him and take him out. Consider injecting the non-awakened zombie with a hemolytic injector so he won’t bother you in the future.

There’s a molotov cocktail recipe (file) on the table behind him, which unlocks the molotov crafting recipe. In this room, you will also find blood, six handgun ammo on a bed, scrap in the blue locker, rare metal in a locked locker (use a lockpick), and a Mr. Raccoon statue on the TV.

When you’re done here, walk all the way back to where you first entered the Basement (wait for The Girl to jump into a pipe and disappear) and insert the joint plug in the power distributor (the one in the northeast). Push the crate marked with yellow paint aside and enter the Boiling Room, where you can grab a lockpick, green herb, and an empty bottle before collecting the square socket wrench (essential item) from the toolbox on the west side.

As you make your way back, The Girl will walk in, so be prepared to hide in the southwest part of the Boiler Room. When she starts walking to the west, circle around the boilers counter-clockwise, and leave the same way you entered. Grab the joint plug from the power distributor, and jam it into the power distributor in the south as quickly as you can. The Girl will come toward you, but if you don’t delay, she won’t be able to harm you before the lights turn on.

If you didn’t loot the Bunkroom earlier, you can do so now, but beware that there’ll be two zombies inside. When you’re done, take the joint plug and use it to open the door at the Furnace, leading west. This is the path you should follow:

Sneak up on the zombie in the larger room and kill him, preferably with a hemolytic injector. In the little office, find the security guard’s report (file), scrap, and a safe. If you opened the warped closet in the Attic while playing as Leon (as described in the fifth part of our Resident Evil Requiem walkthrough), you should have the basement safe code: 60 to the right, 40 to the left, 80 to the right. This will get you 10 handgun ammo and the Raccoon Roundup Map (Rhodes Hill), which shows every Mr. Raccoon location in the Rhodes Hill area.

At the forklift, collect the blood, empty bottle, and most importantly, the second joint plug, then crawl through the tunnel leading into the Workshop. The Girl should spawn before you enter, so wait for her to leave before exiting the vent. There’s an exit hole in the east wall (see picture below, right side), but you can loot the Workshop for blood, a technician’s note (file), a Mr. Raccoon statue, and some scrap first.

Now, run back to the Furnace. The Girl will spawn behind you, but don’t panic, as the activated power distributor prevents her from following you. Wait until The Girl runs off before grabbing the joint plug at the Furnace door, then enter the Collection Pool to the south, and use the square socket wrench plus the two joint plugs to activate the power distributor here. Beware that new zombies will have spawned if you didn’t use hemolytic injectors on their bodies before.

Leave through the south door and crawl through the tunnel behind the large fan. You’ll find some scrap in the tunnel and a green herb when you get out.

At the blood pool in the Processing room, collect the forklift key, which lies next to the body (see picture below on the left). Leave the third joint plug for now. Use this key to move the forklift and collect six handgun ammo, the Care Center basement floor plan (map info), and a hip pouch (two inventory slots). When that’s done, use the key to move the forklift in the northwest, between the Furnace and Workshop (see picture below on the right). Beware that The Girl will spawn in that area, so try to sneak past her and activate the power distributor to turn on the lights.

With the power on and the forklift moved, head through the door to enter Inspection, which has a ton of bodies hanging by their ankles Before you explore the room, open the blue lockers to your left for scrap and rare metal (requires a lockpick). See the gaps between the hanging bodies? Use them to move along, counter-clockwise, and exit to the left at the first opportunity (don’t worry about handsy zombies). Here, at the center of Inspection, get rid of the zombie and move the blue cart (there’s some blood and handgun ammo to collect as well). Use this newly created gap to return to the entrance.

Now, turn the lever to the left, and go back through the same gap you just created. Continue following the zombie stream ahead of you, all the way back into Processing. There you will find a typewriter to save your game and a green herb.

When you’re ready, turn the wheel to drain the blood pool. Descend into the pool and walk to the opposite side to trigger the processing mechanism. Avoid the shredders on the east wall and shoot any zombies that get too close as the others will get eaten up by the shredder. You’ll find a molotov cocktail, 10 handgun ammo, and 15 handgun ammo on the walls to help you out.

The best, bullet-saving way to deal with the zombies is to shoot them in the head, and when they’re staggered, push them into the shredder.

After a while, the processing will stop, and you can safely climb the ladder. Finally, you can take the third joint plug on the south side of the blood pool. With the power switched off, you can crawl through the vent near the typewriter, which will take you straight back to the Collection Pool.

There, pull the “Collection & Testing” lever to drain the pool, and collect the blood at the bottom. A great opportunity to get some more hemolytic injectors! There’s also a green herb in this area.

When ready, use the elevator to go up and collect the other two joint plugs. You might want to loot the empty injector from the newly opened cell in the north (second from the left) and get rid of a few more zombies in the Holding Cells, Furnace, and Bunkroom areas first, as you’ll have to pass them without a weapon soon (though it’s not necessary to kill them all).

Like before, The Girl will spawn upon grabbing the plug at the forklift, so be ready to shake her off. Once you’ve inserted the three joint plugs in the Holding Cells’ power distributor (marked with a star on the map below), be ready to run to the eastern elevator as quickly as possible.

Since you’re carrying Emily, and can’t use a weapon, it’s very important not to dawdle at the power distributor; start running immediately, and the zombies won’t have reached the hallways yet.

Push the elevator button and follow the two action prompts (one to push some bags away, and one to open the elevator door) to escape the Basement. After the cutscene, you can take The Girl’s Severed Hand as a souvenir.

Grace and Emily are back in the slightly less creepy part of the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center, and they’ve collected the three pieces of quartz needed to escape. The next part of our Resident Evil Requiem walkthrough helps you locate the helicopter key and defeat the Blister Borne boss.
