'Shark Tank' Star Wears $12.9 Million Item as a Necklace

2 March 20264 Mins Read

Kevin O’Leary grabbed attention at the 2026 Actor Awards when he walked the red carpet wearing a sports card worth nearly $13 million around his neck.

The Shark Tank investor arrived at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday with a rare, one-of-one basketball card signed by two NBA legends, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan, framed in white gold and covered in diamonds.

O’Leary, 71, is best known for his role on Shark Tank. But this time, it was not a business pitch that got people talking. It was his necklace.

The item hanging from his neck was a 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logoman Autograph card. According to ESPN, it features patches from both players’ jerseys and their signatures.

The card is numbered 1-of-1, meaning there is only one like it in the world. O’Leary bought it in August 2025 for $12.932 million. On the red carpet, he proudly said it is now worth $20 million.

“We brought Kobe back to L.A. That’s a one of one dual logo, man, signed with Jordan as well. It’s a $20 million card in 2.2 pounds of Tiffany white gold and 100 karats of Tiffany diamonds. I mean, we’re rockin’ it tonight, baby, that’s it,” O’Leary said during a red carpet interview.

The necklace includes 2.2 pounds of Tiffany white gold and about 100 carats of Tiffany diamonds. He described the weight of the piece in a social media video before the event.

“The weight of this thing is, like, two pounds of solid gold and diamonds,” he said while holding the card close. “But it’s all for Kobe.”

O’Leary explained that wearing the card in Los Angeles had special meaning. Bryant, who played for the Los Angeles Lakers, died in a helicopter crash in January 2020 along with his daughter Gianna and seven others. O’Leary said the necklace was his way of honoring the late basketball star and “bringing Kobe back to LA where we all love him.”

The card is not just rare; it is record-breaking. When it sold for $12.932 million through Heritage Auctions, it became the most expensive sports card ever sold at auction. It passed the famous 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card, which had sold for $12.6 million in 2022.

Experts say the card’s value comes from its rarity and history. It is the only dual Logoman card signed by both Jordan and Bryant. The patches on the card come from game-worn jerseys, making it even more special to collectors.

O’Leary purchased the card with partners Matt Allen and Paul Warshaw. Even though it cost nearly $13 million, O’Leary has made it clear he does not plan to sell it.

“It’s going to be a part of an index that I’m going to continue to grow along with my partners,” he said in a past interview. “We look at it no different than our bitcoin holdings, our ethereum holdings, our gold holdings. … It’s no different than collectible watches, in some way. It’s so rare that the prices continue to appreciate, and they seem to defy recessions.”

He has also called the card “a labor of love.” For O’Leary, the gold Logoman patch is what makes it stand out. “It’s unique. It’s a piece unique,” he said.

O’Leary wore the necklace while attending the 32nd annual Actor Awards, where he was nominated with the cast of Marty Supreme for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. In the film, he plays Milton Rockwell, a wealthy businessman in a 1950s sports drama.

The ceremony, hosted by Kristen Bell, brought out many big names in film and television.

While many stars wore designer gowns and tailored suits, O’Leary’s bold choice stood out because it mixed sports history with high jewelry. It was part fashion and part investment statement.
