Mickey Haller isn’t parking the Lincoln anytime soon. Following the massive success of Season 4’s debut in February, co-showrunner Ted Humphrey has officially confirmed that cameras are now rolling on The Lincoln Lawyer Season 5.
As we covered back in January, Netflix handed out a very early renewal to its hit legal drama, greenlighting a fifth season just days before Season 4 even dropped on our screens. Now, the team is wasting absolutely no time getting back into the courtroom.
Taking to Instagram, series creator and co-showrunner Ted Humphrey shared a brand new update with fans, confirming that production for the highly anticipated fifth season is officially underway in Los Angeles, writing with a caption: “We’ve just begun shooting Season 5 of #TheLincolnLawyer! And it’s going to fly by and land on @Netflix before you know it! ” Humprhey will also serve as the director on the first episode, according to the clapper in the photo with Abraham Martinez operating the camera.

I’m not an expert on clapper boards, but here’s what I think all the various numbers mean:

- 501 and 37D (Middle): The 501 indicates they are filming Season 5, Episode 1. The 37D means this is Scene 37, and the “D” indicates it is the fourth distinct camera setup or angle for that scene.
- 2 (Top right): As indicated by the printed word below it, this is Take 2 of the shot.
- A27/C3 (in red on the top sticks) or 29: This indicates the current media cards (rolls) in the cameras. The “A” camera is on roll 27, and the “C” camera is on roll 3.
It’s no surprise that Netflix is eager to keep the wheels turning on the Manuel Garcia-Rulfo-led drama. The series has been an absolute juggernaut for the streamer. Season 4 didn’t spend as long in the top 10s as season 3 did, departing after 4 weeks, two fewer than season 3. But during that month-long period in the top 10s, it picked up 222.5 million viewing hours and 26.4 million completed views.
Cameras were originally due to roll on March 2nd and it’s unclear how many days they are into filming right now. We do know that production was originally due to wrap up by July 9th, 2026.
As Netflix recently covered, the series is filmed across Los Angeles, with over 50 locations having been used thus far including the “Dodger Stadium, Grand Central Market, the Bradbury Building, Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant, Los Angeles City Hall, Redbird, the Los Angeles Times Building, Hop Woo, the Vincent Thomas Bridge, and Bacio di Latte in Larchmont Village.”
What to expect from The Lincoln Lawyer Season 5
For those keeping track of Michael Connelly’s original source material, the showrunners have already confirmed exactly which case Mickey will be tackling next. Season 5 will consist of the standard 10 episodes and will adapt Resurrection Walk, the acclaimed seventh novel in Connelly’s Lincoln Lawyer book series.
Humphrey and his co-showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez previously teased the upcoming season in a joint statement when the renewal was announced:
“Season Four is the most challenging and intensely personal journey we’ve taken Mickey Haller on yet, and we’re thrilled and grateful to be able to continue the ride in Season Five!”
Alongside Garcia-Rulfo, we fully expect Neve Campbell to be back once again as Maggie McPherson, along with fan-favorite mainstays like Becki Newton (Lorna), Jazz Raycole (Izzy), and Angus Sampson (Cisco).
When could Season 5 release on Netflix?
If we look at the production timelines for previous outings, we can make an educated guess on when Mickey will return. Season 4 wrapped filming in mid-June 2025 and arrived on Netflix in early February 2026—about a seven-and-a-half-month turnaround.
With Season 5 kicking off production right on schedule in March 2026, filming will likely run through the summer. Assuming a similar post-production schedule, we’d expect Season 5 to drop on Netflix sometime in early to mid-2027. In fact, one source reports it could be on our screens as early as February 2027. We’ll have to wait and see how things develop.
