6 Toronto bars have just been named among the best in North America, Canada Reviews

1 April 20263 Mins Read

Toronto’s already earned international bragging rights when it comes to steakhouses, and now the city has something to celebrate on the cocktail front, too. North America’s 50 Best Bars 2026 has released its extended 51-100 list, spotlighting bars across the continent that are helping shape drinks culture through creativity, hospitality and innovation. The list spans 28 destinations and includes 14 new entries.

While Canada claimed 19 placements overall, with strong representation from Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary and Victoria, Toronto accounts for an impressive six of those Canadian spots, with bars ranging from a karaoke-themed retro lounge to a speakeasy-style hideaway serving inventive cocktails! And while a few well-known bars have dropped substantially from last year’s list, Toronto is still in a good position ahead of the April 22 reveal of the top 50. Here’s a closer look at the six Toronto bars that made the list.

Civil Liberties (No. 54)

This Bloor Street West cocktail bar is a vintage neighbourhood hangout, with its neon pineapple sign out front doing most of the talking! There’s no fixed cocktail menu, so you tell the bartender what you like, and the bar goes from there. It’s a great spot for riffs on darker Manhattan-style drinks and espresso martinis. Still, Civil Liberties fell noticeably from last year’s ranking, after landing at No. 21 in 2025. 878 Bloor St W.

Cry Baby Gallery (No. 69)

Cry Baby is a great pick for anyone who likes a little edge with their cocktails! Try the deep agave, whisky and amari selections. For something more exotic, the Zombie is made from a blend of rum, lemon, pimento, falernum and sorrel. The bar ranked No. 68 in 2025. 1468 Dundas St W.

Suite 115 (No. 74)

This downtown College Street bar is a new entry on this year’s list! It offers a speakeasy-style experience that includes passcodes and a vault-like entry, as well as a super distinctive menu: try The Old Man (a clarified Hong Kong milk tea spin on an Old Fashioned) or Life at Suite, a signature drink made with Calvados, ice wine, yuzu, ginger, lemongrass and curry (yup, curry). If you want to learn the art and science of cocktail making, the space even hosts cocktail classes. 532 College St.

No Vacancy (No. 82)

This sultry, late-night hideaway is another new entry on this year’s list and is perfect for anyone looking for unique flavours. Try Japanese-influenced drinks like sake, whisky and shochu highballs alongside more elaborate cocktails, or tasty drinks like The Jump Off: an espresso martini made with Vietnamese coffee and St-Rémy XO, as well as The Pornographer and Smokey Nagata’s Supra. 74 Ossington Ave.

Slice of Life (No. 90)

This intimate and stylish downtown cocktail bar gives off a “secret” speakeasy-like experience, alongside amazing drinks. Try the gin highball with vanilla yogurt, cantaloupe and basil, as well as drinks that bring together ingredients like cheese, ice wine, chocolate, strawberry and Parmesan. The bar ranked No. 96 in 2025. 409 College St.

Bar Mordecai (No. 94)

This immersive cocktail bar rounds out Toronto’s six with an interior that plays with traditional hotel lobby elements, including curved couches and a check-in desk-themed reception area, as well as a downstairs Green Room and private karaoke rooms. Try standout drinks like the Content Creator, a glittery riff on the Porn Star Martini served with prosecco. Bar Mordecai also dropped significantly from last year’s list (it ranked No. 37 in 2025). 1272 Dundas St W.
