Here’s what’s open and closed in Toronto on Good Friday for 2026, Canada Reviews

As Good Friday approaches, many services and businesses across Toronto will operate on holiday schedules. While some locations will remain open, several government services, stores and transit systems will have reduced hours or closures.

Here’s a list of what’s open and closed across the city:

Public Transit

TTC: TTC holiday service schedule is running on Good Friday, which means all routes operate on their Sunday service schedules but start earlier at approximately 6 a.m.

Go Transit: Go Transit routes operate according to the Saturday schedule on Good Friday.

Government Services: Government services will be closed on Good Friday. Essential services (Police, Fire, emergency services) will operate as usual.

Toronto Public Library: TPL will be closed on Good Friday.

Postal Service: Canada post and UPS are closed on Good Friday.

Liquor Stores: LCBO and other Beer Stores are closed on Good Friday.

Restaurants: Many restaurants are open on Good Friday. Use Open Table to help you decide.

Shopping and Groceries

Groceries: Large chains like Costco, Walmart, FreshCo, Metro and Loblaws are closed, with a few exceptions. Many No Frills locations are closed but some locations may be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Local stores also may be open; check their website for hours.

The below grocery stores will remain open on Good Friday:

  • Loblaws at 60 Carlton St., 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Farm Boy (777 Bay St., 207 Queens Quay W., 81 St. Clair Ave. E., 100 Queens Quay E.), 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Whole Foods at 87 Avenue Rd., 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Rabba, all locations, 24 hours

Pharmacies: Pharmacies such as Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall will remain open with modified schedules.

Malls

CF Toronto Eaton Centre: Open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
CF Markville: Open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Promenade Shopping Centre: Open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Hillcrest Mall: Open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The following malls will be closed on Good Friday:

  • CF Fairview Mall
  • Yorkdale Shopping Centre
  • Dufferin Mall
  • CF Shops at Don Mills
  • CF Sherway Gardens
  • Scarborough Town Centre
  • Vaughan Mills
  • Upper Canada Mall

 

Entertainment: Movie theatres are open on Good Friday.

Attractions

CN Tower: Open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada: Open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Royal Ontario Museum: Open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Art Gallery of Ontario: Open from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Casa Loma: Open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Toronto Zoo: Open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Allan Gardens Conservatory: Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hockey Hall of Fame: Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
