For many, the names in the credits of KPop Demon Hunters are new, but most of the actors who voiced the characters in the global animated hit film already had successful onscreen careers either in the U.S. or in Korea or both prior to the global success of KPop Demon Hunters. Ken Jeong, who voiced Bobby, the manager of Huntrix, is a well known actor here in the U.S. Daniel Dae Kim (Healer Han) and Yunjin Kim (Celine) starred as husband and wife Jin-Soo and Sun-Hwa Kwon on Lost. Yunjin Kim has also appeared in several Korean projects as well as Season 1 of XO, Kitty.
So it’s not surprising that Ahn Hyo-seop, who voiced Jinu in KPop Demon Hunters, has had a successful career in Korean television and is much sought after in the industry over there. His turn in 2022’s Business Proposal helped to make it one of Netflix’s more popular international rom-com series. With more interest in Asian cultures breaking into the mainstream, hopefully we’ll see Ahn in more predominant and widespread projects in the future. His next project is a new KDrama called Sold Out on You premiering next month. Read on for more about the upcoming Netflix series.

Who’s in the Cast ofSold Out on You?
Ahn Hyo-seop as Matthew Lee aka “Quail Lee”
Ahn Hyo-seop, who also goes by Paul, was born in Seoul, South Korea, but moved to Canada when he was six. He returned to Korea when he was 17 while his family remained in Toronto. He originally went the boy band route, like BTS, training with bands Got7 and One O One, releasing a single with the latter. He eventually transitioned into acting where he found more success with A Time Called You, Dr. Romantic, and Business Proposal. His first voice acting role was that of Jinu in KPop Demon Hunters.
Fun Fact: In KPop Demon Hunters, when Rumi (Arden Cho) and Jinu (Ahn) first meet, “Love, Maybe” by MeloMance is playing. The song is one of the main songs off the soundtrack of the popular KDrama Business Proposal which starred Ahn Hyo-seop in the lead role. It was originally used as a temp track to set the tone for the scene when the film was still in development, long before Ahn was cast, but ended up staying in the film because it matched the tone and mood of the scene. Check out Ahn and his Business Proposal co-star, Kim Se-Jeong, sing “Love, Maybe,” in the video below.
