Pokémon Pokopia ‘Sableye’s Gem Hunt’ event guide

29 April 20265 Mins Read

Pokémon Pokopia has an event themed around camping and treasure hunting that features Sableye, titled “Sableye’s Gem Hunt.” You’ll need to help Sableye collect red crystal fragments to exchange for treasure and camping decor that you can use to flourish your island.

The event runs from April 29 starting at 5 a.m. until May 14 at 4:59 a.m, based on your Nintendo Switch 2’s console time. (This means you can time travel to this event freely.)

Below we explain how to start “Sableye’s Gem Hunt,” where to find red crystal fragments, and what the event rewards are.

How to start the ‘Sabeye’s Gem Hunt’ event in Pokopia

As with most other Pokopia events, when you open your game, you’ll get a notice that a Pokémon is the “talk of the town,” and to go to a Pokémon Center to see what’s up. If you don’t have a Pokémon Center built yet, you won’t be able to participate in this event.

Once you head over, you should find a Sableye trudging around the Pokémon Center, which will be decked out in shiny jewels. Sableye will register in your event Pokédex, and they’ll tell you that they’re in the market for red crystal fragments. Sableye will then set up shop in the Pokémon Center, offering goods in exchange for these crystals. Collect and trade them to get these time-limited items, similarly to how you did for the Hoppip event.

Where to find red crystal fragments in Pokopia

To get these red crystal fragments, head over to one of Drifloon’s Dream Islands. The island will be littered with red crystal chunks. Use Rock Smash on these chunks to break them and get fragments.

For us, these crystals were usually inside the caves on the island, rather than on the outside. Each crystal drops four fragments. From one Dream Island trip, we were able to net 56 crystal shards, but your mileage may vary depending, since the islands are randomized.

It will cost 64 fragments to buy at least one of everything in the shop, though you’ll need to farm more fragments if you want duplicates.

Notably, there are some special items that aren’t just decor in this kit. The sleeping bag can be used as a bed, the camping cooking pot can be used to cook soup, and the tent kit puts up a little tent. However, you’ll need to submit 20 twine, 20 vine rope, and 20 iron ingots and bring over a Build Pokémon, a Search Pokémon, and two more buddies to actually build the tent from the kit. Additionally, the tent takes one hour to build and can house one Pokémon.

As usual with items in Pokopia, you can take photos of the items and use the 3D printer to make more. It costs 2 rare Pokémetal per item.

‘Sableye’s Gem Hunt’ event habitat

Since Sableye is the only featured Pokémon for this event, there’s only one event habitat: the treasure-hunting set.

To make this, you’ll need to place one adventure kit, one map and compass, and one treasure. Note that Sableye does already register in your Pokédex even without you making this, but making the habitat and showing it to them after the event ends will give it a spot to hang out in.

If you’re starting out in Pokémon Pokopia, we have guides to help you spruce up your island. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you can also check out our beginner’s guide for some early tips and tricks to help smooth out your journey.

We also have walkthroughs for the important requests that progress the story: “Yawn up a Storm!,” “Brighten Things Up!,” “Time to Party!,” and “Build the Huge Building!” If you’re looking to play with friends, know that there are restrictions for the regular Pokopia multiplayer and for the GameShare version.
