The Westin Playa Vallarta has opened as Westin’s first all-inclusive property in Mexico. Located along Banderas Bay, the resort has undergone a multi-million dollar transformation from the former Westin Resort & Spa, Puerto Vallarta. The renovation included updates to guest rooms, the addition of new adults-only swim-up suites, enhancements to dining venues, expanded wellness spaces, and other facility upgrades.
The property now features more than 280 redesigned guest accommodations, each with the Westin Heavenly Bed 2.0. The new Swim-Up Junior Suite is an adults-only category with ground-level water pathways and exclusive access to Playa Dip Club, which offers culinary options, cocktails, and amenities. Other accommodations include Sky Pool Suites with private plunge pools and ocean views, Wholesome Family Studios with kitchenettes and flexible living areas, the bi-level Heavenly Penthouse, and the Presidential Suite, both with private terraces, plunge pools, and panoramic views of Banderas Bay. Additional options include Ocean-view Junior Suites and Heavenly Panoramic Suites, which feature yoga mats, lavender balm, and scented candles.
The resort’s design was led by Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos, with interiors refreshed by Uribe Krayer and Vida Design Studio. The property features open-air spaces, natural materials, and original artwork by Berenice Hernández Castro. The lobby includes a reflective pool, and throughout the resort are handmade ceramics, woven accents by Mexican artisans, and oak finishes.
Dining centers on the Gourmet Gallery, an open-air space with views of palm trees and ten culinary and mixology concepts. Venues include Flora Bar, Agave Studio with mezcal tastings and chef-curated pairings, Tanto for Japanese cuisine, Palma for Caribbean and Latin flavors, Call Me Lalo Taquería, and Organic & Co Café. Sabia, a culinary venue, is scheduled to open in the coming months.
Amenities include weekly programming such as sound healing, sunrise yoga, kayaking, paddleboarding, Aqua Fit, Fitdance, meditation rituals, and coastal biking. The property features the RunWESTIN route along Marina Vallarta’s shoreline, the Heavenly Spa by Westin with hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, and signature treatments, and the WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studio. There are two redesigned pools—one adults-only and one family-friendly—as well as pickleball and padel courts. Cultural programming includes workshops such as Wixarika and Alebrijes art sessions, Cantarito craft experiences, outdoor movie nights, and evening entertainment including Silent Beats, live Latin music, and karaoke.
The resort offers more than 11,800 square feet of indoor-outdoor event space for gatherings, celebrations, and wellness-focused retreats. Guests have access to destination experiences, including tours of La Zona Romántica, a district in Puerto Vallarta with art boutiques, restaurants, and music venues.
