Was it really a surprise to anyone? While Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt may have seemed like the perfect couple by Hollywood standards, all good things must come to an end. For these two, that happened much sooner than they expected.
Of course, the breakup was far from private. Fans (and critics) took to social media, sharing their, um, views. As it turns out, just about everyone has something to say. And, to put it nicely, the public has… thoughts.
Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt’s Relationship Timeline
In March of 2025, the tabloids broke the news that Davidson was dating someone new. The SNL actor has a long list of famous exes, includingAriana Grande, Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley,Kaia Gerber,Phoebe Dynevor, Kim Kardashian, Emily Ratajkowski, Chase Sui Wonders, and Madelyn Cline. Whew, and wow!
By April of 2025, just about every celeb site had published pics of Davidson and Hewitt. The couple was spotted hand in hand at a Knicks game later that month. Sources told several media outlets (in May) that the pair was living together. Elsie posted photos of Pete in an Instagram dump a few months later. And then, the really big news broke—the pair was expecting.
Baby girl Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson arrived on December 12, 2025, and the party of three seemed as happy as could be. But sadly, in May of 2026, rumors surfaced the couple was calling it quits. Things went downhill from there with a series of less-than-flattering statements from sources close to the couple. A recent People article claimed that Elsie is feeling the “full mental load of motherhood.” The same source also revealed, “She never expected to be a single mom.”
The Public Backlash After Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt’s Split
So what does the public have to say about these new relationship revelations? Redditors responded to the People article with comments panning both of the new parents, such as, “And yet she had a baby with Pete Davidson,” “Somehow, she was the only one that didn’t see where this was headed,” “You get with a man who’s notorious for his whirlwind high-profile relationships, get pregnant almost immediately, and then are shocked when it doesn’t work out?”
The comments didn’t end there. Other critics pointed out (in reference to the insider saying, “She never expected to be a single mom”), “That’s a wild statement to make after having a baby with a guy whose dating history has its own Wikipedia page,” and, “I mean if you get pregnant by Pete Davidson, you gotta know being a single mother is at least a possibility. His track record isn’t exactly great.”
What’s next for the pair? Well, it doesn’t seem like reconciliation is in the picture. And we’re pretty sure their fans/critics will have much more to say about it!
