The world’s largest preserved T. rex is coming to Calgary at this new immersive experience

25 May 20263 Mins Read

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to stand next to the world’s largest dinosaur? Calgary is about to get a pretty good answer. This summer, the Telus Spark Science Centre is launching a new immersive dinosaur exhibit centred around one of the most famous fossils ever discovered.

The whole experience is designed to feel like you’ve stepped back in time, with massive skeletons and life-sized displays.

An experience that hits all your senses

The Telus Spark Science Centre is bringing Sue: The T. rex Experience to the city, and according to organizers, it will feature one of the best-preserved Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons ever found.

While the original fossil is actually housed at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, this travelling exhibit includes an exact cast of Sue, giving Calgarians a rare opportunity to get close and personal with one of the most iconic dinosaurs in history.

According to the organizers, the exhibit doesn’t just involve viewing bones behind glass; it’s designed to bring the dinosaur to life through sight, sound, smell and touch.

You’ll be able to stand right beside Sue’s skeleton, which is about 40 feet long and 13 feet tall at the hip. And if that doesn’t make you feel small enough, there’s also another full-scale T. rex model set in a hunting scene, showing what the dinosaur may have looked like while hunting around 68 million years ago.

What to know before you go

The exhibit will be on display from June 27 to Nov. 29, 2026, which gives you a few months to catch it over the summer and into the fall.

Tickets are available through Telus Spark, and the exhibit is included with general admission, so you can spend a whole day exploring everything the science centre has to offer. It’s also suitable for all ages, making it easy to bring the whole family!

So, if you’ve ever wanted to live out your Jurassic Park dreams, now’s your chance. It’s the kind of experience that doesn’t come often in Calgary, and truly feels like one of those things you have to see in person. And it’s only here for a limited time, so it’s definitely worth making space for in your summer plans.

When: Saturday, June 27 to Sunday, Nov. 29, 2026
Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Telus Spark Science Centre – 220 St. George’s Dr. NE, Calgary, Alta.
Cost: Included with general admission; starting at $24.96
