This Alberta river is officially open for its summer tubing season

9 June 20263 Mins Read

It’s officially that time of year: Pembina River Tubing is back in business, folks.

If you aren’t familiar with the Pembina River, where have you been? The tubing aspect of it all has been around since 2007, and recently it’s been taken over by new ownership dedicated to bringing the river back to its prime tubing state. Looking for the prime relaxing river float? Well, you truly won’t find one better in Alberta.

Pembina River Tubing is a tradition for most, and a must-do in the summer for almost all nearby residents. If you haven’t been before, this summer is definitely the one to grab a tube and go.

What to expect

Having been around for almost two decades, the team here has got this tubing thing down to a science.

An important thing to note is that this river does not loop. You’ll be taken through beautiful sights, and once you’re finished, you’ll hop aboard its shuttle service back to the starting point.

According to its website, there are five different types of tubes: a large headrest tube, a small headrest tube, a tube with a bottom, a small cooler tube, and a large cooler tube. All single-ride tube rentals include the shuttle service back to the starting point, with the last shuttle ride being at 7:45 p.m.

Reservations are also recommended, although not required. You can make reservations online on their website, ensuring you’ll have a tube and spot in the river when you get there.

Pricing starts at $25 online and goes up to $40 when you walk in instead of making a reservation. It differs depending on age and the type of tube. If you’re looking to bring your own tube, pricing will be $5 for a site maintenance fee, or only $23 for the shuttle service back.

If you’re wondering about the float times, they differ depending on the day. No worries, however, because they release a float schedule on their Facebook every day. The average time usually ranges around two and a half hours, so get your sunscreen and bug spray packed for the journey.

Ready to float the river this summer? I sure am, and it’ll be ready for our arrival whenever the time is right.

When: Every day (weather dependent)
Time: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends
Where: 53217 Range Rd. 74A, Entwistle, Alta.
Cost: $5+
