Heather and Tarek first addressed the burglary in a joint Instagram statement on Friday, June 12.
“Our home has always been our sanctuary, the place where Tarek and I raise and protect our babies, love our family and find peace,” they wrote.
The couple said having that space violated was “deeply unsettling,” but added that they were grateful their family was safe.
They also said they were heartbroken over the sentimental items and family heirlooms that were taken.
“While material things can be replaced, our hearts are broken over the irreplaceable family heirlooms and special memories that were taken from us,” they wrote.
Police Shared Details About the Break-In
The Newport Beach Police Department confirmed to People that the incident happened sometime between Saturday, June 6, and Monday, June 8.
Police said unknown suspects accessed the backyard of the property and shattered a rear sliding glass door to get inside the home. Once inside, the suspects ransacked the primary bedroom closet before fleeing.
Police also confirmed that jewelry was stolen.
Heather had hinted that something upsetting had happened before the couple shared the full statement. On Tuesday, June 9, she wrote on Instagram Stories that she and Tarek felt “violated” and “really sad,” while also reassuring followers that they and the children were safe.

Tarek has also continued to speak publicly about his real estate career, his years on Flip or Flop, and his blended family with Heather and his ex-wife, Christina Haack.
They Are Focused on Safety and Routine
For now, Heather and Tarek appear to be focused on protecting their family and restoring some peace at home.
