Omni Hotels & Resorts Appoints GM for Upcoming Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita, Mexico

Omni Hotels & Resorts has named Fernando Gibaja as general manager of the Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita, the company’s first luxury property in Mexico, located along the Pacific coastline of Riviera Nayarit. Gibaja will oversee all aspects of the resort’s pre-opening planning, operational strategy, and guest experience as the property prepares to open in spring 2027.

Gibaja brings more than 30 years of international hospitality experience, including senior leadership roles at Capella Hotels and Resorts, Jumeirah Group, and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. He most recently served as general manager of The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort. In his new role, Gibaja will work with ownership, development partners, and Omni Hotels & Resorts’ leadership to prepare for the opening.

The Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita will feature 202 guest rooms, 42 suites, and 2 villas, each offering Pacific Ocean views. The beachfront resort will include a luxury spa, five ocean-view restaurants, five resort pools, and more than 27,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space. Additional amenities will include wellness facilities, oceanfront recreation, and locally sourced Mexican cuisine.
